Fifty Seven

Nayeon was next to grab the mic. She started off with a high energy song that matched her personality. She started dancing around while singing. She had no style, no form, or no dance to follow. She was filing around like an 8-year-old ADAH child on sugar.

And most of the people there were ughing with – or at – her. No one cared. Nayeon was having the time of her life. Secretly (to everyone outside of Seulgi’s group, at least) she was the second best dancer of everyone there, after Seulgi. Seulgi is a dancing machine, no one was sure if that counted or not.

The chicken was devoured, except by JooHyun, who had a phobic reaction to chicken in general, snacks were absorbed, and drinks were downed as fast as they were poured. This was the kind of party that most of these people enjoyed the most.

Nayeon was trying to sing a 3rd song but was body checked out of the way by Min-jeong. Needless to say, this surprised both Nayeon and everyone else. Including Min-jeong herself. With Min-jeong being as petite as she is no one, again, including herself, thought that she would have the body mass to be able to knock Nayeon out of the way. Fortunately, there was a wall in the way to stop Nayeon from being even further inelegant. Even more, fortunately, Jackson was there to catch her as she fell. Gillian was there to give Nayeon a once over to make sure that she was not hurt. Then promptly dumped her on to her butt on the floor to get Nayeon off her husband’s p. No one was especially surprised by the st, as Gillian could be quite possessive.

For the next song, Min-jeong grabbed Yeojin’s hand and dragged her up on the floor. The duo surprised everyone from Wendy’s crew (and JooHyun) with how well they harmonized.

Seulgi picked Nayeon up and dusted her off. She grabbed Yeji, then pulled Nayeon toward the stage. She had Jackson program the next song and roped Min-jeong and Yeojin back to the stage by the expedience of grabbing the back of their colrs and pulling them back. Seulgi then motioned for Wendy and JooHyun to join them on the stage. Wendy willingly joined. JooHyun joined too, frowning in hesitation. The song was a simple yet popur song, so everyone knew it.

After the seven started, everyone else joined in. Once again, it was chaos outside the sound booth because anyone who walked by and heard them all singing, they were all so surprised that at least one person stopped mid-step. Another person forgot that they were eating and nearly died choking on a piece of popcorn. Good thing there was someone there who knew the Heimlich Maneuver, or he might have died.

The manager was once again on the fence of being between enjoying the singing and wanting to throw out these menaces. Maybe after this song. Or the next. Or ter, after the next few. Maybe just not allow them back in next time. At least as a group? He’ll deal with it as it comes.

The manager looked and the clock and could only sigh. It was only 20:30. They were not slowing down. A new order for more booze and snacks just came in from this room. With a heavy heart, he knew this was going to be a very long night. However, he was still going to pipe this room into his office. To make sure that they were enjoying themselves. No other reason. Certainly not because he was enjoying their singing. He would obviously not record the singing either. (Especially as it was a viotion of privacy.)

With everyone going full bore and singing their hearts out, they had to stop after the third song. When they added dancing into the mix, everybody was short of breath. A few fell to the floor when the music stopped, panting. Some of the smaller people, with less lung capacity, were hyperventiting.

There was no ck of smiles from anyone. They started ughing all the more when they heard appuse outside the room. Katie went to open the door while Seulgi had everyone else line up, and while holding hands like a proper minstrel troop, they all bowed to their fans.

They paused the singing to both get their breath back and let their new 'fans' take photos.

Refreshed, revitalized, and rehydrated, the door was closed and the next song was brought up. Katie picked the song and surprised everyone with the vocal range that she had. She could hit low and slightly raspy notes as well as crystal clear high notes. When the song was done, she did a perfect stage bow and tried to exit the floor.

She was stopped by Seulgi and Wendy who had chosen the next song. On the way to the stage, Wendy tapped JooHyun and motioned to join them. Seulgi subtly stopped anyone else from going up to join the. Her intuition said this said that this was about to be special beyond even their normal talent. One perfectly brilliant grin from JooHyun ter, they all started singing. “Magical” could not begin to describe their ability to harmonize. They could all sing together, in harmony without losing their vocal color. You could hear their individual voices while everyone was on the same note. Even the people who knew them were all stunned.

They tried to step down after the song, but they were not allowed to. Needless to say, these four were very surprised by this. Yeji of all people picked the next song, queued it up, and everyone agreed that they should sing this song next. Taken aback but fttered, the quartet agreed. Bliss followed. They tried to step down again but were again refused. Nayeon chose the next song. Jackson had them sing a lulby after getting their permission to record it for his and Gillian’s baby. After the 5th or 6th song, these songbirds begged off any further until they rested their voices, rehydrated, and had some snacks for energy.

The singing continued. But everyone knew that the quartet would be back, even if the group had to beg, borrow or bully. “No” was an unacceptable answer. Truth be told, they were looking forward to it, but they did have to take care of their voices, too. Even people in the hallways shouted out suggestions for them. Although they were fttered, that did not stop them from closing the door.

These four we as close to perfection as anyone had heard together. Absolutely no one left disappointed after hearing them. Even the karaoke manager.
