Iseult is dead, murdered by her father in his efforts to ascend to godhood. His efforts fail, leaving her a lingering and lonely soul, forced to forge a new purpose in the afterlife. Iseult discovers in a shocking revelation that godhood requires the soul-corrupting sacrifice of a family member by the god-initiate in order to attain magic. This sends her on a campaign to save other souls from this fate, defying the gods and forcing the purification of their souls upon them. To this end she devises a radical plan to create a god-messiah to lead the gods to their ruination. However, once born, her messiah Mejias has her own discordant ideas.
