Chapter 14: The first infestation starts _ Part 1

  Half a year later.

In a classroom, or maybe some kind of meeting office, over ten people were listening to the Mike.

Some were taking notes; men and women, different in age.

Some were just listening with attention.

But nobody dared to play around.

All of them had military uniforms.

All but Mike, who was only wearing casual clothes. A little sporty style.

"So, if we take in mind that we humans with supernatural powers, A.k.a PhySEC users, fall under those three categories, would you think supernatural creatures too?" He asked.

He was waiting for no answer, but one of them lifted their hand.

  "Go on" He instructed.

  The young woman spoke.

"Yes, sir. There is common knowledge as far as I know, that even if they have different abilities, they still fall under the same categories" She spoke with confidence.

"True... true and fake. Remember something, even if creatures fall under the same category, the supernatural is called supernatural because science can't describe it"

He paused, took a sip of water and continued.

They were just some newbie recruits; he was a combat instructor but had to do this work from time to time.

"For example, look at the situation that happened in the exclusion zone in Asgars"

He controlled a laptop on the side and the projector showed the images of the situation found months ago when he was still in prison.

"Captain Kuznetzov, from the Albion Vanguard Mercenary Corps in the UNA, his mission was simple yet risky; and what happened there changed the perception of the world about the supernatural energy"

The images showed what they found after the operation.

After the team managed to escape, they lost 2 of the 5 men.

The investigators thought about the ridicule situation and decided that it was probably made by a mind attack of a supernatural creature, or caused by the spatial rift itself.

But then they (the UNA) organized a big expedition, approved by most countries so Redzen could only stop the war for a few days more.

The investigators then found that the creature was out of the imagination.

They found no creature there, and the spatial rift stopped interfering with the signal, it was like everything normalized in a second.

But they still found the evidence.

The creature indeed, had both, invisible mind ability and physical emission ability.

They found the marks left by the creature on the body of the lieutenant,

The six fingers of its hands.

The traces of footprints in the ground showed it had just 3 fingers for each foot.

And the destruction made by it, all confirmed the physical strength of the creature.

And the mind state of one of the surviving soldiers confirmed the mind ability.

"The creature is the proof that we still know nothing about the supernatural world" Said Mike.

"But also, it teaches us, that the supernatural is called supernatural even by the dissolved guild for a reason"

It took not much time to end the introductory class.

He was tired of teaching the newbies but still had to do it.

Half a year ago, Kat made him contact Rose,

And instead of beating around the bush, he made his intentions clear.

And just like that, he was declared innocent not much later. Free from prison in less than a month.

With a debt to pay to Rose for her kindness.

He got his dream of becoming the one he wanted.

He even made Rose approve 3 requests.

First, not having to wear the uniform while not on a mission or while not in a journalist's interview. Also, he was exempted from those interviews.

Second, instead of just becoming an instructor as Rose wanted, he can become a blacklist hunter, to hunt PhySEC criminals. Rose was fine with it but doubted; he wanted to get exempted from mandatory objective, he wanted to choose his objectives.

That second request was on debate but he still got approved.

A case of literary theft: this tale is not rightfully on Amazon; if you see it, report the violation.

  And third...

"Finally, no more class today..." He went home.

As he was able to go home freely without following a military order.

He could get home if he had no more instructions during the day.

He was, after all, still training his own ability.

He had to teach the personnel about unarmed combat and close combat in general.

And had to take training with them, making them learn combat without using their abilities.

For training their abilities, they had other instructors.

Rose offered him to train his ability there.

  But obviously, he rejected it.

He already had the best teacher at home.

And so, as he reached home, the sarcastic android greeted him.

"Back from work so soon? Are you sure you are working properly, master?"

"I work at the pace everyone in Aether works... work less and still get paid for slacking"

"Can't beat that logic, master. Is still soon for dinner, want to start training right away?"

"You know me too much to know that answer already"

They went to the training area right away.

Mike was already in phase 2, at this rate he could already make a decent match with Claire.

His ability worked the way he always wanted.

Just a week ago, he finally broke into the second phase, and since then,

He's been trying to get used to his changes.

In just half a year, he broke through the phase at a rate that Claire never expected.

She calculated for him that with his genius-like speed, he would be at phase 2 in a year.

The answer was simple yet interesting.

The suppression of the antiPhySEC wristbands.

Those things were effective in boosting his control over the Bloody Hand in phase 1.

Not even in the notes was something about it, so they thought it was not discovered by the guild.

After all, starting phase 2, antiPhySEC material was almost ineffective against the Bloody hand.

As for the training, it's been the same as before.

But today after dinner, Claire made an announcement to his doom.

She stated about training with fireguns.

There were a lot of weapons and ammo in the basement.

Mike was happy, but when the training started, he was shocked.

Actually, rather than shocked, he was scared.

And instead of being scared when the training started, he was scared before starting it.

"Want to kill your owner so soon? At least give me time to get stronger!" He was shocked but could not lose his funny side.

He was seeing Claire using his ability. He could almost see in different directions at the same time.

The range of his ability increased too.

Claire was standing in a shooting position some meters away from him.

She was holding a low-caliber pistol.

  Already waiting to fire.

"Master, I cannot kill you directly, so please trust me"

  "Like hell"

"I also gave you the bulletproof vest"

"That's why I am shocked, where you got it from? I never saw this before in the house?"

"You never searched the lab and secret lab"

  "Oh... right"

After explaining to Mike the training method to calm him down, he agreed to it.

Of course, it was done just to calm him down, she did want to try this method since she developed this method herself.

After following the notes, she developed a new method for the training of the Bloody Hand.

It was not uncommon, some users of special abilities in the guild developed their own methods following the notes of the ancestors.

But it was still a try.

Mike's advantage over the Bloody Hand relies on two topics, Speed and control.

Speed and control were the main focus of one of the most known Bloody Hand's user in the guild's records.

  So, she pulled the trigger.

With the perfect aim of an android. She fired at the bulletproof vest Mike was wearing, directly at the most well-protected area, just in case.

Mike tried to react, following the position he scanned with the ability, he knew the bullet trajectory, but still, it was too fast for him to evade.

The sound speed was indeed fast.

He could not know when the android was about to pull the trigger.

Her body was different from that of a human.

While humans show signs while about to make a move, the android in front of him could skip things like that.

  That being said...

*POOF* he fell on the ground.

"Does it hurt you to try to imitate humans moves?!"

"No, master. It would only hurt you."

"..." He somehow felt like refuting but that was a good logic in his mind.

"But I understand. I will try to make easier-to-read moves... at least at the start, I hope you can keep up since this will be the main training from now on aside the combat training"

"Yes... this living nightmare is leagues above the nightmare those soldiers experimented on Asgars"

"What are you talking about? The bullet hit your vest, not your head"

"I somehow like this android, somehow... but hate it too"

Just like that, the pain continued.

  ...

  Meanwhile, in the aetherian jungle.

A creature, a four-legged creature, stood still on top of some corpses.

The corpses were all humans, all wearing the military uniform of the Aether army.

Sights of supernatural creatures were rare on this part of the continent.

But still, it was not just one creature.

One more arrived, and then another one too, and so on.

In a few minutes, the creatures started advancing as a whole pack.

They moved fast, so fast that the military had no time to call for help.

They could only die when they saw the blue fur and big claws pierce their chests.

They couldn't properly see the 1.5-meter tall wolf-like creature that killed them.

Silently, without the nearby cities realizing it, the supernatural creatures, for the first time in Aether's story, got into the territory.

But there was more to it than meets the eye.
