Kibishi's POV
Mato's Office
"UNACCEPTABLE!!!!!! VERY UNACCEPTABLE!!!!!" Mato yelled at Tao and me as we sat on our own feet.
Not only were we doing that, but Mato had also brought out a board and written our names and a sentence that made us rethink our actions.
Mato folded his arms as he stared daggers at Tao and me as if we were the most hated people on earth. I slowly raised my head while grabbing my knees that were shaking.
"E-excuse me, Mato—"
"Mr. Mattrew to you, child!" Mato coldly yelled at me as I could see a vein popping up and down on his forehead.
The yelling made Tao and I flinch.
Tao slowly bowed her head to the floor.
"WE'RE SO SORRY!" Tao apologized to Mato.
"WE DIDN'T KNOW WHAT CAME OVER US!" I followed Tao's action and bowed my head forward and bent my body.
"IT WAS IN THE HEAT OF THE MOMENT!" Tao continued.
"PLEASE! FORGIVE US, SENSEI!!!!" Tao and I said in unison.
We heard some footsteps, and we raised our heads to see a shadow over Mato's face. Yikes! Was that a monster?! It was WAY scarier than the one we just fought!
Mato stopped in his tracks in front of us and bent one knee, and now his face was facing ours. Mato narrowed his eyes at us. Yeah, that was fair. I would find us suspicious as well if I heard that a guy and girl were trying to pull something behind his back...
"You promise?" Mato softly spoke to us.
Tao and I nodded repeatedly in a fast way.
Mato then smiled brightly at us.
"Good!" Mato then rested his hands on each of our shoulders. But he then turned serious with shadow covering his face. "Like HELL I'll let you two get off that easy after not ONLY pulling this stunt but ALSO not taking care of your wellbeing! As a doctor, this CANNOT continue, you hear me!"
"Wha—!" Tao and I started to tear up as we realized that the worst was yet to come.
Oh great! What was he going to do?!
A few minutes ter
Ah.
I understand...
So, Tao and I were now sitting on top of some chairs alongside some desks. We both had pens in each of our hands. Mine was in my left hand and Tao's in her right.
And we were currently writing a ten-page essay on the reason why we shouldn't be so thoughtless and should care for our wellbeing some more. To be honest, I lost interest and got stuck on page 2. I was surprised that I even got that far in the first pce.
I deeply sighed and pced my pen down.
But once I did that, Mato smmed his hand in front of my desk.
"I DIDN'T TELL YOU THAT YOU COULD TAKE A BREAK, MR. KIBISHI!" Mato yelled at me with anger in his eyes.
"B-but I don't WANT to write an essay on something I won't listen to anyway!" I pced my hands in my white jacket that I got after waking up. I was wearing a white jacket with red strips on each of my sleeves in a bad pattern way. I also had my red jeans with white shoes as well. Tao, who I gnced at after compining, was wearing a lovely small pink jacket with her white long dress and a bow on top of her hair that made a ponytail that she was wearing at that moment. Not to mention white long socks and pink boots that had high heels.
The high heels aside, since they made her a bit taller than me than she originally was, the clothes she was wearing were pretty cute. And I could feel my cheeks burning every time I stared at her.
"Well, MISTER! I don't give a crap about ANY of that! You broke ONE of the rules that we established here in our organization! You're LUCKY that thanks to your outstanding job of taking care of the monster that we excused it THIS time! Now get to writing. NOW!" Mato demanded me with a finger pointing at me.
I narrowed my eyes in annoyance.
"Don't you give me that look. You have to face consequences for your actions, Kibishi. Nothing in life is free." Mato said in his calm voice.
Funny to think that this was the same guy who was usually chill and didn't yell at kids even if things were rough. But apparently I was wrong. He turned into a full-blown JERK!
"Now chop-chop! The sooner you can do this, the sooner you can go back to your room and wait for another punishment from me, Kibishi." Mato waved his hand at me and gave me a bored look.
"THAT'S IT!"
I tossed my papers on the floor in rage and stood up with my palms smming on my desk.
"THIS! IS STUPID!" I folded my arms in anger.
"KIBISHI! YOU WILL PICK UP THOSE PAPERS IF YOU KNOW WHAT'S GOOD FOR YOU!" Mato yelled at me once more. This made me twitch my left eye and unfold my arms.
"LOOK! I'm sorry for causing trouble for you and the other adults! But it was. An. Accident! We didn't do it on purpose!" I pointed at Mato who narrowed his eyes at me and then took a step closer. "Listen here, Kibishi. In the real world, people like you don't GET the right to compin. You screwed up when you didn't listen to me about your powers. You SPITEFULLY made your friends mess with your nerves. And the worst part is, you even put your best friend in danger thanks to your recklessness."
"...What the hell did you just say?" I whispered as I could feel my anger reaching a boiling point.
I could handle taking fault for putting us in danger. I could handle being scolded for something that was beyond my control. I could even at LEAST listen to Mato's compint. But...
Static!
My mind was going bnk. All I could see was red.
Static!
I wouldn't hear this SHIT from someone who sat back on his ASS and tried to scold ME for something that made their operation a whole lot easier!
Mato.
How dare you. HOW DARE YOU—!
"Hold on." Tao raised her hand in front of me. She then slowly stood up and confronted Mato.
"Now, wait a second. What the hell did that st part suppose to mean?" Tao asked with her eyes narrowed at Mato.
"I said what I said. Look, I know you two care for each other, but—"
"Just because we care for each other, we should focus on your mission more? Is that what you're trying to say?" Tao stepped forward with both fists formed in an angry way. "Are you trying to tell Kishi that because his pn involved my life, he was reckless and should've thought about me more?"
"..." Mato just stared at Tao seriously.
"Are you saying that Kishi is more selfish than anyone around here?" Tao took another step and then grabbed hold of Mato's white coat. "Are you saying that I DIDN'T want to help Kishi on my own accord? Do you have ANY idea what you're saying right now, Mato?"
"...Unhand me before I make you and Kibishi get kicked out for good." Mato, who wasn't phased by Tao's anger or threats, demanded with a straight face.
"..." Tao continued to stare at Mato, who wasn't backing down from her.
Tao raised her fist and backed it up.
"Do it, and that's a wrap for Riley and David as well. I won't stop you, though. You'll only make things worse for you and your friends..." Mato said confidently.
Tao's fist shook as she gritted her teeth.
If this continued, then Tao might get into more trouble!
"Wait, Tao!" I held onto Tao's fist.
She looked at me in confusion.
"...Let him go. Please. For me?" I whispered, my expression turning grim.
If things kept escating, then who KNOWS what would happen next?! As much as I HATED the idea, the adults were looking out for us. And if we rebelled, then we were the enemies and would be treated as such.
"Let go.... please," I whispered once more and lowered her fist.
Tao's eyes shook in sadness, and she loosened her grip on Mato. She shut them and looked away from Mato.
"I thought you were different, Mato..." Tao whispered as her voice sounded weak.
"...I am," Mato responded.
"NO! YOU'RE JUST LIKE THE OTHERS! BLAMING THOSE AROUND YOU JUST BECAUSE IT'S NOT WITHIN YOUR EXPECTATION!" Tao yelled at Mato as her face turned red.
"...If I were one of the other adults, I would've kicked both of you out for being such children right now..." Mato said coldly to Tao. This made Tao widen her eyes at Mato. I saw the painful look within her eyes as they shook in shock at the news that was received just a moment ago.
This made me narrow my eyes in anger and pull Tao back as tears started to fall from her eyes.
"...I get it already. I won't yell at you or the adults again..." I whispered as I pced Tao back in her seat. I then slowly started to pick up my stuff as Mato tried to do the same.
"...Okay. MAYBE I went out of line there with that statement just now..." Mato gathered some more falling papers and then adjusted them before handing them to me. "But you two MUST learn that not everything will be in your favor. That's not how life works, okay?"
I stared at the pile of paper that Mato was holding as he continued.
"I understand. Really. I understand that—"
Snatch!
I snatched the rest of the paperwork away from Mato, which made him flinch. But I didn't give a damn about it, though.
"...No. No, you don't." I slowly stood up and went back to my seat.
"Kibishi..." Mato stared at me with a straight face.
"I'll get this done and take my punishment, Mato. Just... just leave Tao and I alone from now on, okay? Unless it's a mission, we both won't be speaking to ANY of the adults here." I grit my teeth and narrowed my eyes. "I'm sick and tired of it..."
"..." Mato remained silent.
He slowly took a deep breath and slowly stood up with a frown.
"...Right. That's fair. I'll let them know once we're done with this punishment...." Mato slowly leaned on the wall with his hands in his coat.
To be honest, I didn't expect any of this event to unfold. I was expecting some disagreement, but when Mato said that to Tao, my mind was made up.
Fine.
You wanted us to follow your rules more strictly? We'll do that.
That meant we didn't HAVE to be friendly to any adults here. I'd simply greet them and move on from there. No small talk. No conversation. Nothing. I didn't want to waste my time and, of course, they wouldn't want us to waste their time, right?
So I'd give them space.
And they'd better give ours as well. Because once this was done, I wasn't going to talk to Mato ever again unless it was mission-reted. I gnced back and saw Tao still crying from Mato's harsh words. I gnced at him, and he gnced at me. I narrowed my eyes once more and looked back at my paper. I would finish this and be done.
I HATED people who thought they were better than us.
I hated, I hated, I hated it!
