Chapter 13: Introducing Razzel Dazzle

The classes that day were quite unpleasant, but of course, Mena expected that as surely as night followed day. Most of the girls completely ignored her or disregarded her existence, and the teachers were even worse. Apo Carrie asked Mena to be his new minipig for his potion, which literally turned her into a small, squeaky brown minipig. "We used to eat this little guys where I'm from," he said as he held her up.

She side eyed him with her big black eyes and squeaked to say. "Don't try it!"

In Magic PE, Nebula literally bewitched the magicball to home in at Mena's head. And by the end, she was not just seeing stars, but whole planets.

Caligari just hated Mena before this whole decision so her scorn went without saying.

Only Scalia remained nice to Mena, but it seemed either she forgot what had happened or was too excited to finally see Prince Phil Le that everything else didn't matter.

By the time she reached the auditorium for her 'New Best Friend Superpals' audition, she was ready to scream 'uncle' even if she didn't have one. Only a missing auntie.

Trudy gave her a sad frown of condolence when she saw how beaten up Mena was. "Owie Zowie," Mena muttered, rubbing her head. "Remind me not to tell a whole school when you make a decision for your mental health!"

Trudy patted her on the back. "Don't worry," she said in her deep, but kind voice. "Hopefully our new best friend will make us all feel better. Friendship is the best magic there is!"

Mena sighed, her eyes had a faraway look. "I know. Even before that old creeper reaper hurt me, I remember such good times with her and you, Trudy. I really hope our new best friend can give me enough hugs to make up for all the pain!"

Trudy rubbed her pudgy hands together excitedly. "Well. I made sure to tell every girl in our classes to meet me in the auditorium for a big surprise! And the best part is, I didn't even tell them what it was. Just to come here."

Mena grinned nervously. "And what did they say?"

This story originates from Royal Road. Ensure the author gets the support they deserve by reading it there.

Trudy chuckled with a big belly laugh. "Well, most of them were very curious naturally. Surprises can be surprising!"

Mena continued to give a sheepish expression. Either this could go really good or really bad.

Suddenly, students from their classes started filing into the auditorium. It wasn't just groundborns, but even a few lunaborns and solborns too. There were girls of both the human variety and the anthropomorphic variety of the magical land of Dula. Most of them looked quite quizzical or interested…until they saw Mena.

A girl with a bird beak and a feathery hairdo pointed her wing at Mena. "What's she doing here?" she squawked. "What kind of surprise is this?"

Mena twinkled her fingers magically. "An audition for one of you to be our next Best Friend Super Pal…a title we've even gotten a magical patent pending on!"

A short haired groundborn crossed her arms. "Be your best friend super pal?! After the way you've doomed our home and all of our families!! No way! I hope someone plagiarizes your fancy copyrighted title and sticks it where the sun doesn't shine!"

Just as quickly as the girls filed in, they all began to leave. One by one. Each with a dark scowl on their faces. Mena stifled a grasp towards them, but she knew it was much too late.

Surprisingly, only one girl remained. And she was curious and even curiouser.

Her blonde hair frizzled beneath a blue and white star spangled hat. She wore matching star blue star shaped earrings and a star shaped skirt. Her starry brown eyes were quite wild and she gave them a playful salute.

"What kind of witch are you?!" Mena exclaimed. She had never seen a witch with such a star themed aesthetic.

The strange witch frowned and put her hands on her purple corset. "I'm not a witch," she exclaimed. "It's a common misconception that every female magic user is some cackling, warty, chanting, smelly crone! I am the amazing Razzel Dazzle and I'm what you call a magician!"

"So…?" Mena asked, her arms crossed as she eyed her supposed new friend with trepidation. "What can you do?"

With her fist raised to the ceiling, Razzel shouted, "Hocus Focus!"

There was an enormous explosion of pink smoke. When it cleared, Mena, Trudy and Razzel were all lying on the ground, dazed out of their minds.

"I'm…still kinda new at…this," Razzel said, slightly wall eyed.

"Well…" Mena exclaimed, coughing from the wafting pink puffs. "She already fits in with our magical incompetence!"
