Book 4 Chapter 14

Robin read that and knew the idea he had two years ago, about the world breaking down into clans, would definitely be coming true. His lips pressed because of this as he looked at the others.

Lola looked and smiled, “I’ve been suggested to get the full human physiology. It will more perfectly merge my human and devil blood since I have a natural devil blood mixed in.” Lola said.

Milo and Shoji looked at each other, “So we both have human physiology.” Shoji said.

“It makes sense for a Necromancer and an Esper to have human physiology since they don’t stop being human.” Robin said.

He then checked for his own.

He looked over at Ruth next to him and she naturally had the same amount though her Earth Dragon was 2% while her fae part was 8% since she got far less of their dad’s hardening.

“So… my hardening comes from earth dragons.” Robin commented curiously. “And our rubber comes from fairies or fae born from ancient rubber trees.” Robin said.

“Earth dragons? You don’t show anything even close to that.” Milo said.

“It says here that it is purely the ability to harden their scales to become indestructible. All the other abilities are no longer present, in fact without the further damage to this DNA from our birth, these powers would be impossible to merge since dragons and fae seem to counter each other.” Robin scowled.

Clearly this was just another genetic obstacle on their path.

“Even I have some earth dragon DNA, even if far less. The faintest part probably related to my physical strength, probably.” Ruth said.

Robin nodded, “So how will this physiology packet work?” Robin asked.

“Do we become genetically incompatible?” Robin asked.

“So it is either, trudge through the minefield that is incompatible genetics for making offspring or avoid the natural abilities within these unique creatures.” Robin said with a sigh.

“Seems even after becoming a Demigod, the choices and fight for power isn’t any less hard.” Ruth said.

“What do you plan?” Robin asked.

She looked at the traits and windows, “How will this affect me since I only have the physical boost?” Ruth asked.

“That… I don’t want to stop being human but I don’t want to lose my powers even if Dragon DNA would likely push me to be like the Dragon King in antarctica.” Robin said.

“I would also be combining hardening back into my body wouldn’t I?” Ruth asked.

Everyone was clearly having a much easier time but who would have thought the most inconsequential abilities, rubber body and hardening, had its origins from such conflicting sources.

“Is there no way to make human physiology the primary and the others more like the secondary?” Milo asked.

The twins looked at one another but before making any decision they asked, “If we got these traits, is there really no one else for us to look for partners?” Robin asked.

“And how does it affect our divinities since it's always been human form?” Robin asked.

The system went silent and very quickly they realized that it was going through a lot of calculations.

It perplexed them why the twins had such difficult choices in life to be able to reach the level that others could naturally grow into.

The group accepted their improvement, it would only benefit them but Ruth and Robin’s steps were all measured.

If you spot this narrative on Amazon, know that it has been stolen. Report the violation.

The system did not reply or return with an answer so eventually they went out for fresh air and surprisingly Robin ran into Marcus screaming at the system.

“What are you shouting about?” Robin shouted over his loud voice.

“This stupid system is saying that I have to pick between physiologies, either Great Ape or titan, it is not even making an effort to merge them.” He cursed.

Robin frowned because the giant DNA made up a massive part of Marcus’ power, not to mention it is generations worth of his family's attempts to achieve this particular mix.

Robin frowned at that and Marcus nodded, “See what I mean, this stupid thing isn’t making any effort to merge them.” He said.

“Well the gamer space is effectively run by Gaia’s soul. That is who writes all this so I can understand why she would not want to combine her children with ape DNA.” Robin said but he also agreed that Marcus shouldn’t give up powers. It was like Robin giving up his hardening for pure Fae.

“After all the effort I put to build up my traits, this is bullshit!” Marcus cursed.

“System, is there absolutely no combination that works?” Robin asked.

The system was silent for a long minute before they heard the wind, akin to a sigh.

“In other words, he will be the child of a titan and not a titan, what he wants to be.” Robin countered.

Another wind like a sigh blew in their surroundings.

Marcus’s eyes shined, “Finally! If you could do that then you should have said that from the start! Why did it take bubble gum showing up for you to be reasoned with!” Marcus complained.

“Wait… you are excluding human physiology right?” Robin asked.

The system produced only a “...” screen before it appeared once more after properly adding that into the mix.

“So human DNA improved the stability.” Marcus muttered.

  “Yeah.” Robin said.

  “What about you?” Marcus asked.

“The system is still simulating because I have DNA of highly incompatible mythical creatures. I asked it to see how it affects our divinity and partner searching, much like you.” He said pointing to the bottom.

“So tribal life is back.” Marcus muttered.

“Effectively yeah, at least the genetic dangers will finally calm down once everyone has figured out their physiology. Then it will be the result of either hard work or racial traits.” Robin said.

“Yeah… Now that I look at this… it means I’ll get a tail as well.” Marcus muttered and some of the others chuckled and Marcus looked at them and raised a brow, “You bastards, are you going to get Great ape or Primate?” he asked.

They all looked at him confused. At least half were actual monkeys and the other were other breeds of great apes.

“Get Primates, that way you guys benefit from the entire spectrum of apes. A tail is just another limb that you can benefit from.” He said and had the system simulate the possible problems he could face so he could plan accordingly.

Robin left him to it, there were a lot of people going through similar hardships and many people not picking something out.

Robin wanted to check the god system as well but he didn’t feel like touching it until he worked out his DNA. His sister, however, was exceptionally excited because she said she had full Earth Dragon DNA due to their father. It was ironic that the least complex power in the family would become the easiest to pick from.

The physiology would need a shit ton of energy to fully infuse of course but it would set their bodies to build it up as long as they provide the energy for it. The easiest and first thing to build would always be human physiology in the entire human race. The second ones would be the slow to build ones.

He had to stop for a moment and think about her hardening. When he thought about it, and how it was formed, it surprised him that he had not noticed. His father had a very jagged hardening form, like his body folding in on itself like a jagged rock which was painful to punch. His sister had rough scales which caused a similar effect; they had worked to make that power flow throughout her body but now she was likely to develop dragon-like abilities and he was honestly curious about how his little sister would grow.

“Are you going to get it?” Robin asked.

“Yeah! I searched up earth dragons! They are said to have the strongest defense of all dragons in fantasy novels! I want to be just like Miss America and be so durable that nothing can affect me!” She said with a bright shine in her eyes.

Robin smiled, “Good goal.” He said.

“What about you and sis? If I have it then you have it right?” She asked.

“Yeah but we also have mom’s power which is a Fae, or some kind of fairy creature and the two aren’t compatible.” He said.

Judith’s face showed shock, “Ruth as well?!” She asked.

“Yep. We are debating about getting both since it would mean a lot of years working to build the compatibility and likely a lot of genetic conflicts since they are inherently incompatible. It only works because of just how much the system has worked with my damaged DNA and repaired both powers.” Robin said.

“Oh! That’s great!” She said. “Wait… Thomas and Jason also have what you have.” She said

Robin smiled, “Yep but by the time those brats get in we will have worked out a lot more of the problems.” He said.

She nodded, “Will mom and dad also get this stuff?” She asked.

“Probably not, though it depends on if they want to. After all, who doesn’t want to bloom? They might bloom naturally since human physiology is going in all humans regardless and it should work out a huge number of genetic problems and illnesses we have.” Robin said.

“I bet all the disability powers will be super happy with this. The only damages left after that will truly only be powers while those that can't activate will probably activate if their bodies couldn’t handle it before.” Judith said.

“Yeah, I bet they will all be healthy now.” He smiled.

It was only after school at home that the system was finally able to give Robin his answer to the questions he and Ruth asked.

Robin sighed, the last thing he wanted was to become a giant dragon weighing millions of tons. He depended heavily on speed and he didn’t want to go through the irritation of fighting as a giant creature. He already had it hard controlling his power and he didn’t want bulk to complicate it.

He went to Ruth though. The hardest choice was on her because accepting the Fae Dragon setup will mean she will get hardened, something she avoided for so long but when he turned to her room, her eyes shined the bright flames of her tenacity and rivalry.

  “So?” She asked.

“Stubborn dragons or stubborn fairies?” Robin asked.

“It's on you, I’ve gotten over myself because we can’t be picky.” Ruth said.

In the end they picked the broadest path to not lose their powers. That said what they expected didn’t happen.

The screen vanished and in front of them both, a huge genetic tree took form and there were a number glowing lines but a lot were inactive.

That said, a lot of them shined much brighter but were not connected and were his existing traits.

The human traits were divided into three sections and at the center was, shockingly, the triple meridians. From there they are divided into mental traits, physical traits and supernatural traits related to energy.

On the side were secondary traits required to support the world core.

At the control panel there were a number of ‘points’ which were the available energy.

  “So…” Robin muttered.

“So the traits evolved even more and beyond the traditional separate box of traits.” Ruth said.

“So… can I harden now?” She asked.

“That’s… at least I won't need to change my style.” She said.

Robin nodded, “Let’s figure out this human system and fill in the traits with the potential we have available.” Robin said.

He sat on a chair and together they began to work out the network of energy up the genetic tree as well as learn about all the new traits to be activated and changed out.
