Chapter 16: Unlucky Beginning

  Chapter Sixteen: Unlucky Beginning

Qiu Ye struggled to carry a basin of steamed buns, and she couldn't help but sigh at her current small stature. She really hoped she could grow up quickly so that everything would be easier for her. Of course, this was just a thought, as she also wanted to relive her childhood and make up for the regrets of her past life. So, it seemed that being reborn back into her childhood had its advantages and disadvantages.

Luckily, she met her mother who was on her way home from work when she went downstairs, so she asked her mother to help out and deliver the basin to the entrance of the cafeteria. She herself carried a seasoning box and a small stool behind her mother's buttocks.

She arrived at the place and instructed a few words before returning home. She still had to cook for her parents, and besides, the children were very safe in this university campus.

Qiu Ye looked around and saw that the cafeteria of the Normal University in the 1980s was not much different from the one in the 21st century. At that time, there were no three-story buildings, only a dilapidated bungalow with a large chimney on top. The two large wooden doors at the entrance were wide open, and from her perspective, the inside of the cafeteria looked dark and cavernous.

Looking at the outside of the cafeteria again, the greening is still good. A straight cement path, with two rows of poplar trees on both sides of the road. At this time of year, all the trees have turned green.

Qiu Yexuan chose a place near the cafeteria, under a big tree. This way, in the summer, there's a big tree to provide shade.

She observed her surroundings and then started setting up her own small stall.

Qiu Ye was holding a small stool, not for herself to sit on, but because she couldn't just put the bowl of meatballs directly on the ground to sell, it looked very unsanitary, so she brought a stool to hold the bowl.

Then she put on the shirt her mother had just hidden, but the gloves were too big and she couldn't wear them. She thought that when she got back home, she would have to think of a way to get a smaller pair of gloves and ask her mother to make a mask for her to wear, or else her skin would be ruined by the wind and sun. Qiu Ye was thinking this as she held the oversized white gloves.

Waiting for her to finish collecting here, the teachers' university hasn't dismissed classes yet, only a few students who didn't have their last class came to the cafeteria early to eat.

"Look, look! Delicious Sichuan meatballs, fragrant and spicy. Guaranteed you'll want two after eating one, just two cents each!"

There were indeed a few students who were attracted by Qiu Ye's shouting, but after taking a look at the boiled dumplings in her basin, they lost interest and walked away.

Qiu Ye thought they were going to open for business, but the other party just took a look and left. She suddenly felt empty inside.

How come I'm so different from those reborn female leads, they have golden fingers and special abilities, but I don't have anything. Even selling things doesn't go as smoothly for me, their female lead can make money no matter what she does.

She had thought about trying out those methods that female protagonists use to make money, but they were quite different from her current situation. Selling buns, selling clothes and whatnot, she couldn't do any of those now. The main reason why her mom and dad agreed to let her come out and sell meatballs was that it didn't require any capital. Her parents knew that no matter what, she wouldn't lose money, so they let her come, just treating it as a game. If she were to sell buns or clothes now, which would require some startup funds, her parents definitely wouldn't agree. Her mom would be firmly opposed to it. With their family's current situation, where would they get the extra money for her to squander? Moreover, Chinese New Year was still far away, and last year's lucky money had long been taken away by her mom. She only had 40 cents that her parents gave her yesterday, which was too little to do anything with, so she could only choose some small businesses that didn't require any capital.

Finally, Qiu Ye sighed and said, it's really a matter of different people having different fates. She might as well start from scratch with her new business.

She saw someone else coming and quickly adjusted her mood. She couldn't start without enthusiasm, or she would lose momentum. She believed that as long as she kept talking, someone would eventually buy from her.

"Little sister, what is this? How much does it sell for?" Finally, after the nth person ignored Qiu Ye and entered the cafeteria, someone recognized her heroism and came to ask about the price. However, wasn't she just shouting two cents apiece when she was selling it earlier?

However, the newcomer is a guest, Qiu Ye still had a sweet smile on his face and explained in a clear voice: "Big brother, this is Sichuan dumpling, it's delicious, you see how big it is, just two cents each."

The newcomer was a tall and slender college student, wearing a Zhongshan suit, which is the most popular outfit nowadays.

"Sichuan Wonton? Isn't Sichuan food all spicy? I don't see any chili peppers." The boy looked at the white wontons and scratched his head.

Oh, I forgot about this, I'm so muddled, how could I forget to arrange a few red dates as decorations? The bright red color of the dates is what's attractive and will entice people to buy. I really have no experience at all, I must correct this in the future.

Qiu Ye quickly opened the seasoning box, picked up a meatball with chopsticks, rolled it around in the sauce, and then handed it to the boy in front of her, saying: "Big brother, you have to eat it like this. I'll give you one, try it and see if it's good." Actually, Qiu Ye had already tasted one when she was doing it herself, and the flavor wasn't bad.

The boy in front was confused by Qiu Ye's action, to know that now selling things, is not let people free taste this said. "This, this, how can it be." He stuttered and said.

"No big deal, big brother, you're my first customer today, so I'm giving it to you for free. Isn't this a good way to start? If you eat well, just come back and be my repeat customer." Ah, now I have to find an excuse to give something away for free, people these days are really simple-minded.

"Well, I'll really try it then?" The boy still seemed a bit uncertain.

Qiu Yeke didn't have time to bother with this one bun, so she didn't say anything and directly used her actions to prove it. She picked up the bun with her chopsticks and put it into that boy's lunchbox.

The boy's face turned bright red, and he walked away with his lunchbox, looking very embarrassed. He probably felt that as a big person, he had taken advantage of a little kid. So, he escaped without even turning back.

Qiu Ye originally wanted him to try it out here, and if things went well, he might even be able to sell a few. Now that's all gone, the other person was too embarrassed, took the thing and ran off.

Qiu Ye couldn't help but sigh, what a bad start this was. This was just giving them away for free, and it had scared people so badly, really.

Afterwards, Qiu Ye still didn't sell well, several people came to ask, but Qiu Ye saw that they didn't have the intention of buying, so she proactively gave them one for free, thinking that if she couldn't give away her own child, then she wouldn't be able to find a wolf, now giving away a few for free was just like advertising for herself.

It wasn't until 11:30 that Qiu Ye hadn't sold a single bun, but had given away over 10 of them for free. She was getting a bit anxious.

However, seeing a large number of students rushing to the cafeteria, Qiu Ye still lifted her spirits and started calling out, "Sichuan dumplings, delicious Sichuan dumplings, fragrant and spicy, new store opening, anyone who is interested will be given one free tasting."
