Prologue

The tall, slanky girl ran into the dark forest, holding the pendant to her chest. Her long black hair danced behind her as she ran. The crimson blood dripped from the teared skin on Alaric’s forehead, falling onto her hand. She was careful to not let it touch the chain. Scratches were soread along her body, threating to drain her of all blood. Alaric’s breath was hevay as she heard the grunts of the dragon behind her. She turned around, staring at it, still running, as if that would go well. Alaric slammed into a tree, snapping her nose. She fell to the ground, gripping her nose.

Alaric immediately stood back up at hthe sound of pounding. She started running again, tears prickling the corners of her eyes. She stood behind another tree, sitting down, and sobbing. She hated this. She hated all of this. Alaric didnt notice the dragon standing above her, and she hardly noficed or cared about the dragon inpaling her stomach with its talon. Her guts spread all over the talon, resulting in Alaric dying immediately.

Aldrinthia sighed as she stared at the academy.

“this is fucking stupid.” She said, twirling her golden blonde hair. She was your average polular girl, who could also behead you if she wanted. Well, she always wanted to, but if she was actually thinking about the blood staining her uniform.

“Shut up. Your brother is in the ER because you ripped his finger off. Why the hell would you even think of doing that?!”

  “He deserved it!”
