Chapter Eleven Can Cure
"Do you have a doctor?"
The men stood up with a rustling sound and asked anxiously.
Look at these cars and horses, look at how these people dress, it's no big deal for a wealthy family to raise a doctor.
Seeing these men stand up, the attendants guarding around Cheng Jiaoniang's carriage were somewhat nervous and hurriedly stood up to block them.
"What's going on?" they asked in unison, with a hint of warning.
In his heart, he resented this eccentric daughter-in-law for speaking nonsense.
You're having a streak of bad luck over here, and you say that I'm lucky? That's just ridiculous!
Although I'm not afraid of these few men, it's always better to avoid trouble on the way.
"Be careful with your words." The leader of the attendants whispered to Cheng Jiaoniang's carriage, "These people seem to be military men."
Jiang Nang has fallen silent on this side.
Scared, huh? The attendants thought to themselves as they shook their heads.
The man on the other side also stopped others and stood still without rushing over.
There was some silent confrontation between them in the noisy night.
The curtain was lifted, and first a maidservant jumped down.
"Wait a moment, young lady, let me tidy up that room first before you go in." The attendant hastily reminded her.
The maid didn't reason with him, but instead reached out and helped Cheng Jiaoniang down from the carriage.
The autumn night had a chill, and Cheng Jiaoniang wore a cloak with a hood that covered her head and face, making her look even more weak and fragile, as if she could be blown away by the wind.
The frail woman walked step by step forward, passing by the attendants, and her direction was not the post station, but these few men.
"Miss?" The attendants came back to their senses and hastily shouted, following closely behind with a hint of anxiety.
The men were somewhat perplexed by the woman's sudden approach and involuntarily took a step back.
"Miss, do you have a doctor?" the leading man asked.
"Yes." said Jingniang.
Really? The man was suddenly overjoyed and stunned for a moment.
"Then, then, please save your life, madam." The leading man was still self-restrained and hastily made a bow.
"Good." said Jingniang Cheng.
I've met a kind person!
The men were all excited, waiting for the woman to call a doctor from her home, but saw that the woman walked straight over, and they subconsciously made way.
Jiangniang stopped in front of the door panel and looked at the person under the quilt on it.
The maid was taken aback for a moment before she thought of something and bent down to lift up the quilt.
"Daughter...?" The men were puzzled and asked with wide eyes.
This little girl, what's wrong, come to see a man?
The attendants here have been stunned for a long time, and several clever ones are busy finding Cao Guan Shi.
"What?"
The Cao officer in charge of the relay station frowned as he looked at the room that had been cleaned up.
"This kid is really considerate." He muttered to himself, turning around to stop him, but was afraid that he would only add fuel to the fire if he came over.
This girl must be against herself...
"What's wrong?" asked Old Master Chen.
Cao Guan was busy and had already told things.
"Oh?" Old Master Chen was slightly surprised, but then seemed to think of something and smiled, "I'll go take a look."
Cao Guan couldn't find what he was looking for, so he hastily let Mr. Chen go instead and led his men to rush into the station.
Jiang Nang stood there for a moment, looking at the man on the door panel who was exhaling more than inhaling.
The man had a messy beard, tattered clothes, and a dirty face, to the point where even his own parents wouldn't be able to recognize him.
The sleeves and legs are wrapped in dirty cloth strips torn from clothes, and the bonfire below reveals black and red stains.
The people around were also stunned, unsure what this woman was going to do or what there was to see about the injured person.
Foul-smelling filth makes people turn their heads away, let alone a delicate young lady.
"My daughter, our family's brother has been wounded by a sword and we've had several doctors take a look, but they all say that the wound is incurable..." The man who spoke first said hesitantly.
"Who says that Golden Creation is incurable?" said Cheng Jiaoniang, withdrawing her gaze. "It's just an illness, not a death sentence, how can it be incurable?"
The man was overjoyed.
"Can he be cured?" he shouted, his voice trembling a little. "Quickly call for the doctor!"
The maid glanced at him.
"This isn't what I came for," she said, somewhat displeased.
Did you come?
The men were excitedly looking around in all directions, where? Where?
All around stood vigilant and bewildered attendants, another was an old man wearing a cloak watching the excitement, and further away were people driving carriages in a noisy commotion.
Where is the one carrying the medical box and rushing to save lives?
"Ah yo." The maid snorted, somewhat amused, "Here it is!"
Jiang Yao sat down on the ground, her skirt spread out, revealing the embroidered golden silk hem.
"Add fire, bring a knife." she said, stretching out her hand from under the quilt.
The men were all stunned.
What?
"Old Master..." The attendant in front of Chen Si said, wanting to step forward and stop him.
"This is her way of showing us what a true doctor looks like." Old Master Chen said, shaking his head to stop the attendants, but instead watched with great interest.
Everyone at the entrance of the station saw it soon.
"What's going on?"
"There is a woman who wants to treat the illness of the person who was just chased out."
"Isn't he supposed to be dead?"
"Quickly take a look, never seen anyone treating the dead..."
There were too many onlookers, three layers deep inside and out, so that no one could see what was happening inside, only hearing the gasps of amazement from people in front.
"What's wrong? What's wrong?"
The people behind him asked anxiously, causing a commotion.
"Fall back, fall back."
The men pushed and shoved through the crowded throng, shouting curses, but at the same time they also turned their heads to stare in stunned amazement at the empty circle of ground that had been cleared.
The woman sitting on the ground by the bonfire still wore a large hood, and under the flickering firelight, her silhouette was outlined with an eerie shadow.
Her hands were exposed, one grasping a knife and the other randomly clawing at the man's body on the door panel, as she swung back and forth, chunks of rotting flesh were thrown aside, this scene mixed with the smell of blood, the stench of burning skin, making people's hearts feel cold and dare not look directly.
Is this for treating illness?
Outside the station is bustling like a market, and inside the station is not quiet as if no one.
"Miss Banqin, isn't it like this?" Two attendants moved a grass mat out from the storage room.
The house has been abandoned for a long time, it's damp and moldy, with a thick layer of green moss covering the roof.
"Yes." The maid said, waving her hand, "Quickly send it to the mistress."
The two attendants responded and hurriedly carried him out.
"Hurry up, hurry up, search again, search again." The maid urged others.
Two couriers standing by held their arms and burst out laughing.
"Heh heh," one of them said, "Today can be considered as having seen a rare thing..."
"It's already midnight." Another one said, looking at the people holding torches and searching the house, and then looking outside at the bonfires and the bustling crowd, "With this group of people coming, it's become as lively as a market opening."
He couldn't help but shiver at this point.
What market can there be at such a late hour? A ghost market...
"...the meat has all been cut off..."
"...the knife had burned him, just like a branding iron..."
Onlookers outside were discussing it heatedly.
Only in the underworld would there be such things. The courier hugged his arm tightly and shook his head vigorously, surely he wouldn't really have run into evil spirits.
