Chapter 15: The Crimson Wedding Dress in the New Room
I pursed my lips, tightly pinching my fingers, the nails digging deep into the flesh, a crimson mark appearing. Yet I didn't feel any pain. "I don't want to marry." I suppressed the choking and trembling in my voice, speaking coolly: "If you don't let me out, I'll go to the Song household and kill that Second Young Master. By then, it will be even harder for you all to explain yourselves."
Su Yu's body trembled slightly, as if intimidated by the determination in my eyes. She sank her face and looked at me seriously: "Su Er, if you can disregard the safety of your family members, then I have nothing to say." Her tone was also one of disappointed coldness: "Father and mother are selfish, but the second son of the Song family is more than enough for you. You have no talent and no exceptional beauty. It's not that I'm hurting your feelings, but if you marry him, it will only bring you good fortune."
I thought about Su Yu's words and it seems that the original owner of this body was definitely a weak and incompetent person.
"Su Yu, are you saying that I'm the lucky one for marrying into their family and I should be grateful? Is that right?" Although Su Yu's words might have been partly true, hearing them made my heart ache.
Su Yu was stunned by my question, clearly rarely seeing such an expression in Su Su's eyes. She hesitated for a moment and asked me seriously: "You must leave, is that right or not?"
"Yes! I have no choice but to leave!" was my firm reply.
"Fine!" Su Yu shouted, suddenly standing up. "Swoosh" - she pulled open the door and pointed at it, coldly staring at me: "If you want to leave, then go out this way. I absolutely won't stop you for a moment."
I looked at her with a mixture of surprise and suspicion, and asked tentatively: "Will you let me go?"
Tears suddenly flowed from Su Yu's eyes, and her tearful appearance was even more pitiful: "As long as you can bear our suffering and hardships, as long as you no longer care about this family, then leave." She sniffled, her tone disappointed: "I never thought that Su Su, the most filial and sensible, the most gentle and timid person in Baili Village outside Chang'an City, would change so much after falling into the water, to the point of not even caring about his own parents!"
Looking at her reddened eyes, I hesitated.
She saw my hesitation and asked, "What's wrong? Aren't you going?" She didn't care about the tears on her face, and kept saying: "If you leave, we'll have to beg for a living in the future. Our parents will be worried sick when they get old, and we'll have to sleep under the stars and eat wind. At worst, the Song family will sue us for breach of promise and we'll have to enjoy a spell in prison."
