Chapter Fifty: The Sheep Meets the Wolf
Shu Li had just stood behind Li Mu, and before he could say anything, Murong Haoran pushed the door open and came in. Without greeting Li Mu, he grabbed the wine jug on the table and poured it into his mouth.
Li Mu was startled and quickly reached out to press down: "Haoxuan, what are you doing?"
Murong Haoran furrowed his brow, his eyes filled with annoyance: "Are you free tonight? Accompany your brother to get drunk and not return?"
Li Mu Leng's face turned cold: "Hao Xuan, if that little girl really doesn't understand the hierarchy, I can hand her over to you to deal with. Even if she wasn't sold into our household, it wouldn't be a big deal."
Arguing with each other is nothing, but if Xue Lengyu really annoyed Murong Haoran so much and because he was someone from his own household, he had some expectations. Then he wouldn't have any estrangement with Murong Haoran just to protect Xue Lengyu.
Murong Haoran let out a long sigh: "Actually, it has nothing to do with her, it's just me... Ah... never mind, let's drink."
Murong Haoran was somewhat discomposed by Xue Lengyu's words, but in his heart, he knew that Xue Lengyu had already been given a divorce and kicked out. Between the two of them, there really wasn't any relationship left. Xue Lengyu could truly draw a clear line with him, clearly and unmistakably.
Although he could have intimidated her with his status and wealth without any problem, that was not something he would do.
"Really doesn't matter?" Li Mu rarely saw Murong Haoran like this and still wasn't quite at ease.
Murong Haoran let out a wry smile and patted Li Mu's shoulder: "Don't worry, it's my own problem, nothing serious. Don't be too hard on the little maid either."
Li Mu also smiled slightly with a hint of bitterness. It wasn't that he wanted to make things difficult for Xue Lengyu, but rather he was afraid that Murong Haoyan wouldn't be able to swallow this.
Li Mu turned back and whispered a few words to Shu Li, who then walked out, asking the waiter to bring more wine while also instructing someone to inform the servants at the Murong residence to prepare a sedan chair to pick him up later, fearing that Murong Haotian would not be able to walk back by himself tonight.
Getting drunk is easy, just pour the wine into your belly. Under Murong Haoran's emotional influence, even Li Mu had a slight drunken intention, knowing that there was Shu Li by his side, safe and sound, so he didn't have any scruples either. The two of them came and went, very enthusiastic.
When Xue Lengyu was eating and drinking in the next room, smelling the strong smell of wine, he finally heard Shuli's shouting.
Xue Lengyu hastily got up and entered the Chrysanthemum Fragrance Hall. However, he saw that Murong Haoran was already lying on the table, Li Mu was a bit better but also almost gone, leaning against Shu Li, his face calm, it was clear that they had drunk too much. On the floor and tables, dozens of wine jars were arranged.
"How did you end up drinking like this?"
"Isn't it all because of you?"
"Me?" Xue Lengyu said with a sense of injustice: "Even if Murong Gongzi is because of me, why did Wangye drink so much."
Li Mu smiled wryly: "Haoran's habit is that even if he wants to get drunk himself, he has to drag others along with him."
What bad habits, indeed sharing good fortune and adversity together. Xue Lengyu also smiled wryly, although he felt wronged, but Li Mu seemed to be even more wronged.
As they spoke, there were light footsteps outside the door. The servants from the Murong residence had arrived to take him away. Several of the usual attendants who followed Murong Haoyan's side, whom Li Mu and the others knew, bowed to Li Mu after which they supported the unconscious Murong Haoyan as they left.
Li Mu rubbed his already aching head: "Let's go back too. Tomorrow morning, it'll hurt again."
"It is." The extraordinary separates from the Way.
Downstairs, the small sedan of Murong Fu was also parked outside. Shu Li helped Mu Rong get into the sedan and pulled down the curtain. He followed beside her, while Xue Leng Yu's status was lower, so he could only follow behind them step by step.
What happened today, Li Mu might not understand very well, but Shu Li is clear. Maybe there are also some words that want to be said to oneself, but Li Mu is by the side, and it's not good to open one's mouth.
They walked all the way to the Wang Fu in a depressed mood, entered the Hongyuan Garden, and the servants gathered around. Li Mu himself lifted the curtain and got out of the sedan chair, still slightly drunk but somewhat sober.
"Everyone go down." Li Mu waved his hand: "Shu Li, you also go rest. Leng Yu, come over and serve."
Shu Li replied: "Yes."
Xue Lengyu exclaimed: "Ah?"
The servants in this courtyard, tall and short, fat and thin, why do they need to identify themselves? Now that it's come to this, a young unmarried girl going to take care of a drunk man, isn't this like sending a sheep into the tiger's mouth?
Xue Lengyu's pleading gaze turned towards Shu Li, and he stammered: "Shu... sir..."
Shu Li understood the meaning of Xue Leng Yu's words, and in her heart, she also had a thread of hesitation. However, she still hardened her heart: "The prince has ordered you to attend to him, what are you standing there for?"
Even if there were no other reasons, Li Mu's intention was not something he could disobey. The woman Li Mu had set his eyes on was even less someone he could have excessive thoughts about.
Xue Lengyu stood still, Xiao Feng hurriedly and quietly bumped into her, saying in a low voice: "Don't you hurry up, if the prince gets angry, we'll all be done for."
Li Mu's brow was already somewhat knotted in his own courtyard, where he was ordering a servant to move but the servant wasn't budging; this was not something he could tolerate.
Xue Lengyu took another look at the distant figure, still expressionless. He knew it was almost impossible to rely on him for rescue. Confronting Li Mu head-on would be unwise too. For now, he could only take things one step at a time, holding onto a glimmer of hope that Li Mu just wanted him to serve him and nothing more.
Xue Lengyu steeled herself and walked to Li Mu's side, whereupon Li Mu slung an arm around her shoulders, his heavy body leaning half against hers as he stumbled along.
Everyone went their separate ways, and Shu Li also returned to her own room. Xue Lengyu walked back to the main house with a bitter face, supporting Li Mu.
Li Mu's bedroom was the most central one in Fengyuan. After entering the room, Xue Lengyu helped Li Mu onto the bed and let him lean against the pillow, standing by the bedside with some unease, not having experienced such a thing before and not knowing what to do.
Li Mu narrowed his eyes and stared at Xue Lengyu, his voice a little hoarse: "Close the door."
"Yes." Xue Lengyu gave an order and made a move.
Now, in her view, whether the door is closed or not is no longer the point. At present, what can make herself retreat completely, it's probably only that one relationship she has always disliked so much, and Mu Rong Hao Xuan had once before.
Hesitating for a moment whether to reveal the truth, Li Mu furrowed his brow and said, "You really haven't served anyone before, go get me a towel to wipe my face."
"Yes." Xue Lengyu hastily said. Just as he was about to walk out, he discovered that someone had already brought in hot water at some point, and it was truly considerate. He could only twist the towel and walk to the bedside, subconsciously trying to hand the towel to Li Mu, but withdrew his hand under Li Mu's angry gaze, and smiled awkwardly: "The servant will wipe the king's face."
Not to mention disability, his face won't even wash itself. Xue Lengyu's heart was resentful of the evil old society, but he didn't dare use too much force with his hands, gently and softly wiping Li Mu's body clean. After finishing, he put a towel in the basin and heard Li Mu's cold voice again: "Come and help me change my clothes."
