I’m at a club/bar with dim green lighting.
The music is chill and smooth. Somewhere between lo-fi and jazz.
There’s a section roped off for fight tournaments. All the contestants have cyborg prosthetics of some manner. It’s a requirement for entry. Everyone’s chill about it all, even while fighting.
I’m sitting in a chair waiting for my bout to come up. I’m a woman with a white shirt and bck hair pulled back in a ponytail.
My legs walk off without me while I’m not paying attention. That happens sometimes. It’s annoying.
Right after I realize my legs are missing I’m called for my bout. No time to go looking for them. Screw it, I’ll fight without them.
Walk on hands into the ring.
Opponent arrives, carried in by a robot. She’s bald and has no arms or legs at all.
I realize she’s a psychic and is using her telekinesis to puppet the robot like a marionette. They do that to themselves sometimes, to strengthen their power through forced reliance.
No way I can fight that straight on, especially without legs. Fortunately telekinesis takes a while to charge up and she’s required by the rules to release any ongoing effects before the fight starts.
I decide my only chance is to go for a ring out before she can fully charge up.
I run on my hands across the ring, dodging a couple of preliminary glowing threads of psychic energy. Grab her and toss her out. Ring out successful.
I win but get some fk for unsporting behavior. Ring outs are considered cheap and some people don’t like that I had more limbs than her. Which is kinda bullshit since she was psychic and saying that I had an unfair advantage is an insult to her. Also, I happen to have a bye round due to there being an uneven number of people in the tournament tonight and that gets some people compining about unfairness of me getting a free round after an already unfair fight.
I’m not gonna deal with all that political bickering, so I drop out, find my legs, and head to the bar.
I run into the woman from my bout and apologize for the ring out. We start talking over drinks and hit things off pretty well, hanging out through the night.
