Chapter Seven: A Kick in Flight
The Ling family's mansion had a dark corridor layout, which could be described as nine bends and eighteen turns. Mr. Ling's study and Ling Wushuang's residence were also separated by a considerable distance.
On the way back, Ling Wushuang didn't rush, her pace was leisurely, her head slightly lowered, walking slowly, her beautiful eyebrows slightly furrowed, ignoring the gazes of people around her, as if she was thinking about something.
After walking through several corridors and circling around the fake mountains and bright lake, she wandered for a good half of the day before returning to her residence.
"Miss, you've finally returned." Seeing her figure, two guards from the yard hastily stepped forward.
Ling Wushuang raised his head, looking puzzled, "What's wrong?"
The two guards exchanged a glance, and after some hesitation, one of them stepped forward, speaking somewhat hesitantly, "It's the Seventh Prince who sent someone with something, saying it had to be delivered personally into Miss's hands. Li Guard has been waiting for you for quite a while."
How hateful, I don't know what they're thinking. Miss has finally been able to stay at home for a few days, but as soon as the Seventh Prince is mentioned, she's likely to make another scene. What can be done about this? Should they go and inform the master of the house?
"Is that the Seventh Prince's person?" They didn't expect that Ling Wushuang would only slightly furrow his brow, reacting very calmly, and walk into the courtyard, casually saying: "I know, you can go now."
In the courtyard, beside a stone table, stood a man dressed as an imperial palace guard. He was tall and robust, with his left hand holding a sword and his right hand cradling a red lacquer box. With his head held high and chest out, he stood proudly beside the stone bench, his haughty expression seeming to disdain even the bench itself, unwilling to sit down.
The guard heard the sound, turned his head to look at the woman walking towards him, and was stunned for a moment before recognizing her. He didn't think much of it, but immediately became annoyed and said: "Miss Wú Shuāng really made me wait."
Ling Wushuang walked to the stone table without looking sideways, swept his sleeve and sat down, picked up the teapot, poured tea into the cup, and said lightly: "Can't you wait for me?"
Even when Ling Wu Shuang sits down, that delicate figure, cold and proud aura, and indifferent tone, somehow makes her seem superior to others.
A casual remark, yet the guard's face twisted in a mixture of emotions. Yes, to put it bluntly, he was just a lowly guard, and although the woman in front of him was useless, she was still the treasured daughter of Master Ling, the young mistress of the Ling family.
Wasn't she always trying to get on your good side before? What's going on today?
"Miss Wuduan, where is she?" The guard's face was expressionless, suppressing his anger, gritting his teeth and saying: "Miss Wuduan was frightened in the arena, I have been ordered by His Highness to personally hand over this Qing Shen Cao to Miss."
Although "Tao De" is a humble word, it is actually quite disdainful in speech.
The guard subconsciously nodded, really didn't know what was wrong with the master, actually letting him come to deliver medicine to this idiot. Jing Shen Cao is such a precious herb, actually used on this waste of space, it's simply a waste of heaven's gift.
"Miss Wu, please take a look, this is the Concentrated Spirit Grass that only exists in the imperial family. It has an extraordinary effect on calming one's mind and cultivating one's body." The guard's face was full of pride, as if this thing were something from his own home.
A crisp sound accompanied the opening of the box's latch, and a refreshing aroma wafted out, invigorating the heart.
"Condensed Spirit Grass", Ling Wu Xiong lowered his eyebrows and glanced at the thing in the lacquer box.
The palm is long and short, with icy blue veins, placed on a layer of loose crushed ice, a cold air mixed with the fragrance of condensation, spreading out along the edge of the lacquer box, just smelling it makes people feel refreshed and invigorated, not to mention its medicinal effect.
"Does Miss Wuduan find this Congshencao satisfactory?" The guard's tone was somewhat sarcastic.
Not to mention a precious treasure like Jing Shen Cao, even if Your Highness gave him a wild weed, Ling Wu Shuang would probably still treat it as a treasured gift.
Ling Wu's eyes gleamed with a hint of coldness, her red lips curled into a mocking arc. "Seventh Prince, you're really going to great lengths."
Would these seven princes be so kind as to deliver medicine to her? She has been back for many days without any news, and just today when Old Man Ling returned, they immediately sent someone to deliver the medicine. It's no wonder that they are from the royal family, they really know how to put on a good show of courtesy.
The guard heard this and saw that Ling Wusuo was slightly distracted, thinking to himself that he had indeed not misjudged him, and that Ling Wusuo's heart was secretly delighted.
Then, the guard floated out a disdainful smile, and heavily placed the box in his hand on the stone table, clasped his hands together, and said: "The Qing Shen Cao has been delivered, and I will return to report back. So, I hope that Miss Wú Shuāng will recover soon."
"Come on!" Ling Wu Shuang raised an eyebrow, her eyes sparkling with amusement, a bright smile spreading across her delicate face.
That guard was stunned for a moment, never expecting that this waste would remove the thick makeup and be so beautiful. But what's the use, she's still a waste, and he actually got distracted, hateful, really annoying.
The guard waved his hand, thinking she wanted someone to escort him out, and said with great arrogance: "No need to see me off, I'll go out myself."
Looking at Ling Wu Shuang for another moment, he felt stifled for the sake of the prince.
"Come in..." The two words had just fallen when Ling Wushuang's smile suddenly disappeared, and his eyes gleamed with a sudden change in tone. Word by word, he coldly said: "Throw the person and the medicine out of the door!"
Someone kindly delivered medicine to her doorstep, and no matter what she said, she should have asked someone to send it away, although the method was a bit unusual.
"What did you say?" The guard's body stiffened on the spot, somewhat unclear.
"What? What?" Ling Wu's two guards, though reluctant, were about to take the servant away, but instead heard this sentence and were immediately stunned. The two of them stood in place with wide eyes staring at each other.
They didn't mishear, did they? Musou-san said... throw it away?
"Do I need to demonstrate?" Ling Wu Xiang glanced at the two stunned guards, hooked her red lips, swung her sleeves and stood up.
The action is clean and neat, without a single thread of water separation.
The guard's eyes widened in terror, and he felt a fierce aura sweeping over him. Before he could react, his stomach was kicked, causing him to double over in pain, accompanied by the sound of cracking bones.
The next second, like a bear's body, it soared into the air, crossing the courtyard gate, traversing the vast sky, and smashing down towards the outside of the courtyard.
"Ah——"
"Bang——"
A shrill cry was followed by a dull thud of something heavy hitting the ground.
"Hmm..." The two guards stared blankly at the trajectory of the object flying through the air, until a loud crash was heard from outside the courtyard, and only then did they shudder and come to their senses.
It turned out that it wasn't their illusion after all; both bodyguards thought of this sentence at the same time.
The guard beside the Seventh Prince was at least a high-ranking cultivator, yet he was kicked flying by Miss Wudang. This is defying the heavens!
"Did you see that clearly?" Ling Wu Xuan withdrew her foot, smoothed out her sleeves and sat down. Her slender fingers adjusted the cuff of her sleeve, smoothing out the wrinkles. Her expression was calm and serene, as if she hadn't just kicked someone.
"If anyone else comes here and makes a racket in the future, throw them out directly." Ling Wusuo's tone was gentle and languid, with a cold intent hidden beneath his voice.
The two guards looked at each other, their eyes gleaming with excitement, and said in unison: "We've got it!"
As soon as the words were spoken, one person walked forward, slammed the lid of the lacquer box containing the Cong Shen Cao on the stone table, rolled it into his arms, and carried it towards the courtyard gate. The two men's footsteps were loud and powerful, their faces spirited and refreshed.
They've wanted to do this for a long time! They had been displeased with that guard for some time, always putting on airs in front of the young lady. The two guards suddenly felt refreshed and thought that from now on, they wouldn't have to suffer anymore.
The young lady said, and threw both the person and the medicine out of the door.
