Always & Forever

his uncles voice boomed through the phone.

“What’s going on!? I got an alert about a car accident, but you weren’t at the scene” he cursed he forgot he would have to deal with the police and such he hadn’t given that any thought he had been to concerned with making sure Jane was okay.

“Sorry, Jane was in bad shape. I couldn’t stick around she needed blood” he explained.

“She was in that bad of shape?” his uncle murmured he could hear the distress in his voice he loved Jane very much.

“Yes, I’ll have to call her father and clean Up this mess” he rubbed a hand on his forehead “But I can’t leave Jane” he didn’t want to and he wouldn’t he wasn’t sure he could let her out his sight anytime soon.

The very thought sent a wave of anxiety coursing through him he moved with quickness back into the other room to check on her, she was still asleep he gently traced his finger down her cheek her skin was so soft and warm against the tips of his fingers she murmured his name. As he watched her sleep, she rolled onto her side he gentle breath ruffled her bangs. Gazing down at her, he realized how small and fragile she truly was. A wave of protectiveness washed over him, and he vowed to keep her safe, no matter what.

He pulled the covers tighter around her, his hand resting gently on her back. He put the phone back to his ear.

“Sorry, Uncle, I needed to check on Jane”

“No need to apologize, call her father and let him know what’s going on, I will handle everything else” he assured him they spoke for a few more minutes before hanging up. He paced the room, his mind racing. He replayed the accident over and over, each time the horror growing. What if it had been worse? What if Jane hadn’t made it? The thought gripped his stomach, a wave of fear washing over him. He paused, leaning against the wall, his gaze fixed on her. If only she were a vampire, such worries would be eliminated, the thought gave him deep pause.
