Chapter 1

As usual, I planted the sign [Merchants of Dreams] beside me and sat cross-legged on my flying carpet, waiting for the first idiot who’d show up to take the bait.

My childish appearance and well-rehearsed salesman’s speech worked every time. These foolish mages always fell for it.

Ah, here came my first victim of the day.

A young woman with brown hair, tanned skin, and black eyes approached me.

I used the [Identification] skill to see if I had hit the jackpot this time.

Nope. My luck was as rotten as always. She wouldn’t bring me much, but well, it was better than nothing. Even an unappetizing meal was still a meal. Bon appétit!

  Ding!

The woman stared at me, and after a few moments, her wary expression turned into a relaxed smile.

  Stupid woman.

The fake statut screen I’d forged worked wonders. She didn’t doubt my identity for a second, like all the players I’d encountered thus far. I knew this was the right choice! Pretending to be as a young Djinn, a sacred creature who fulfilled people’s wishes, while stabbing them in the back, felt so damn satisfying.

I smiled back and used my usual salesman’s pitch: “Welcome to the Dream Market. How may I assist you, big sister?”

Her complexion turned deep red as she replied, a little embarrassed, “I wish to become the most beautiful woman in the world.”

Oh, another one. Looks like the group from last time passed on the word. My camouflage magic must have been very effective. They probably haven’t realized the trick yet.

“Very well, I will grant your wish,” I said with a broad and benevolent smile .

I used the [Camouflage] skill on her.

In an instant, she transformed completely.

Her brown hair, cut in a bob, turned golden and grew down to her hips, forming a cascade of silky, wavy blonde locks. Her face, covered in scars and acne, became smooth and flawless. Her tanned skin lightened and became soft to the touch.

The blonde beauty now standing before me bore no resemblance to the ordinary woman she had been just moments ago.

  Ding!

Two notifications popped-up, but I ignored them. The most important thing right now was to finish my little sham to get my rewards. I couldn’t afford to get caught, not when I’d barely managed to con sixty three middle tier magicians and two high level ones. This big city was like a treasure trove filled with big-shots. I didn’t want to give up on this juicy banquet just yet.

I activated the [Art of Deception] skill to level up my acting skills and bootlicking ability. Any respectable swindler would kill for this god-tier power. I was probably the only lucky fucker who got it right from the start along with my legendary class.

“Wow! Big sister, you’re absolutely stunning! Are you sure you are still human?” I asked with an awed look on my face. “With your pearl like skin, breathtaking golden hair and mesmerizing azure eyes you looks like a goddess!” I said while giving her a small mirror.

Her face turned beet red as she stammered a “thank you” while taking the mirror I offered her.

When her blue eyes fell on the mirror, they widened in shock. “This can’t be possible, it can’t be me! Even Leah and Anna didn’t become this beautiful!”

“Big sister, has your wish been fulfilled?” I asked, feigning ignorance.

She looked at me and smiled, “Yes. Thank you so much, Djinn. You are the best! Here’s your reward.” She pulled three gold coins from her inventory and handed them to me.

“Thank you so much, beautiful big sister. Goodbye,” I said, waving as I tucked the coins into my already overflowing pouch.

She waved back and left, whistling cheerfully.

After her departure, I took a look at my two notifications.

I clicked yes. My real reward was finally here.

  Ding.

  Another notification popped-up.

I clicked yes again, grinning from ear to ear.

  Ding.

  Ding.

I smirked, this guy really couldn’t live without me.

I laughed out loud. I love you too little thing. By the way, did you forget to send my next quest?

  Thanks. Little prick.

Ouch. This vengeful little thing gave me a trashy quest again.
