Chapter 24: Intention

  Chapter Twenty-Four Plans

The next morning, Zhao Juan went to work early, leaving only Zhao Mu, Zhao Tong, and little Douding Song Jie at home.

Zhao Tong was restless and, together with his mother, took a spade to turn over the muddy ground in the courtyard. They also set up a wooden frame, preparing to plant some vegetables.

Song Jie couldn't help with the work, so she carried a small bucket, inside which was about half a bucket of water sloshing around. She followed closely behind the adults, calling it "watering".

Zhao's mother didn't care about her either, as long as she didn't get into trouble. Song Jie followed and became even busier.

Earlier, Mrs. Zhao might have asked her daughter where the vegetable seeds were. She directly took the seeds and planted them in the ditch that had been dug, then covered them with soil and watered them. Before long, the yard was tidy and neat.

After finishing her busy work, Zhao's mother wiped Song Jie's face and went back into the house to play with Song Jie.

"Nini, who do you like best?"

Song Jie's big eyes rolled around and she said very affirmatively: "I like grandma the most!"

Zhao's mother heard and her face lit up like a blooming chrysanthemum, holding her granddaughter's small face to apply lip balm. Song Jie rolled her eyes inwardly, dodging the kisses.

"Grandma also likes Nini the most, Nini, would you like to go back and live with Grandma in the future?" Zhao's mother asked tentatively.

Song Jie was startled in her heart. She wasn't a real little kid and didn't ignore the seriousness in Zhao Mu's eyes. Had something happened without her knowing?

"Nini wants to stay with Mom," Song Jie said casually.

"Then why don't your mom come with you and we can all live together from now on?"

"Okay, I'll live with Grandma," Song Jie hastily replied. In fact, she was extremely shocked in her heart and hadn't expected to hear such news. For a moment, she felt anxious and confused.

Since Grandma asked her like that, she must have been quite sure. Would she really leave this place in the future? In fact, according to Song Jie's idea, she didn't want to leave here at all.

Xiao Zhang village is small but has a beautiful environment and the people are very enthusiastic. Although there may be some extreme individuals, it does not affect her love for this place at all.

In the half year since she arrived here, she has felt a lot of warmth that she had never felt before. Just like a young bird opening its eyes for the first time, the first thing she saw was this place, and she is very emotional about it, really not wanting to leave.

If Zhao Juan really wants to leave, she will definitely not be able to stay. It's just that I don't know when she'll leave, it must have been what Grandma and Mom said last night, how could I sleep so soundly? Otherwise, I would have at least heard a word or two. It seems like in the future, I need to pay more attention.

The two of them were talking, and Zhao Tong was getting a bit impatient: "Mom, I'll take Ni Ni out to play for a while, we haven't strolled around here yet."

Zhao's mother had many young children and felt helpless, so she nodded and said: "You all go, I'll clean up the house again. Your sister is busy and doesn't have time to tidy up."

Zhao Tong let out a cheer and scooped up Song Jie before dashing towards the door, prompting his mother to chase after him, shouting "Slow down, slow down!"

The big one and the little one ran away early in the morning without a trace.

Young people really have the strength, Zhao Tong hugged Song Jie and walked steadily, not at all strenuous. As soon as Zhao Tong returned here, he thought of taking a look around, and the scenery everywhere was so fresh, his curious heart really wished to explore this place immediately.

Song Jie walked while pointing out the road to Zhao Tong, and it was a miracle that this navigationally-challenged person hadn't gotten them lost.

Arriving at a wheat field, people are working everywhere, the scene is truly bustling. The green waves of wheat dance slightly with the gentle breeze, looking out at the endless expanse, unable to see the edge.

Everyone is bent over and working hard, it's impossible to tell who's who.

Nowadays, work is divided into production teams, and each team is assigned a certain area. Song Jie also couldn't tell where Zhao Juan was assigned to, as there were too many people crowded together.

There was no way, so they had to search for her piece by piece. After searching around one by one, they finally found Zhao Juan in the northern border. Zhao Tong hurriedly carried his niece and walked over.

While walking, he accidentally trampled a few wheat seedlings. Zhao Juan, who had discovered them early on, glared at him from afar. Zhao Tong became even more careful, but still ended up trampling a few more.

"Sister, you're working here? It's really far from home. I've been walking for a long time." Her small face scrunched up like a bun.

Zhao Juan smiled unpleasantly: "What are you doing here? There's no fun place either."

Zhao Tong replied seriously, "I'm here to help you with your work." Song Jie also nodded in a similar manner, as if she was very capable, and her little appearance made people want to laugh.

Zhao Juancan didn't believe they could do the job, and it would be good if they didn't make things worse. Farm work wasn't easy anyway, and it was really just a mess. But she didn't stop them either, just let them give up on their own.

Then Zhao Juan gave them a detailed explanation of which was wheat and which was wild grass. Zhao Tong was so confused that he couldn't tell the difference at all. How could he possibly distinguish between them? Just now, he even thought the field was planted with leeks, haha!

After repeated explanations, Zhao Tong, who had never set foot on the ground, finally recognized the crops. It's really making people sweat. With this effort, he can also weed a piece of land again.

There were no extra tools, so I had to pull it out by hand. However, the soil was still soft after being watered recently, so it wasn't too tiring.

Zhao Tongxing started to squat down and pull out the wild grass with a whoosh. Song Jie didn't idle around either, following him to pull, but her strength was too small, the grass didn't come up, and she even fell into a big squat, Zhao Tong looked back not only didn't pull her, but also laughed very loudly.

Song Jie was so angry, covering her eyes with the back of her hand and pretending to cry. Zhao Tong thought it didn't look good, if he made Little Ancestor cry, his sister would skin him alive.

He quickly pulled up Song Jie, and Song Jie was caught off guard. Gotcha! The fake crying has been exposed...

This little thing is still playing tricks on me, how can it be so clever! Zhao Tong was really at a loss whether to laugh or cry, being played by a little kid, truly humiliating.

However, Zhao Tong didn't want to bother with a little kid like that, so he made a face at Song Jie and let her off. Song Jie felt extremely bored, without any of the thrill of teasing someone.

The two of them laughed and joked for a while, then lowered their heads to start working. Without noticing Zhao Jie glared at them several times, almost glaring out a hole. The two of them who were having fun didn't notice, you push me once I push you once, making small movements.

This piece of land is all Zhao Juan's, and in these days, it must be harvested, the workload is very large. Zhao Tong and Song Juan worked for a while, their hands were sore, and their arms seemed to not belong to them.

This farm work is really not for humans, Song Jie and Zhao Tong looked at their own hands, took a deep breath, and the awkward expression was truly laughable.

Zhao Juan looked at him and shook her head directly: "Alright, I knew you guys couldn't do it, hurry back now."

After hearing this, the two of them hastily shook their heads and bent down to continue working hard.
