Volume 1 Chapter 5 Past Memories of the Entertainment Circle
"Oh." Upon hearing Mu Fang's words, she simply responded with a single word, her tone calm and peaceful. Tong Jiang was simultaneously frowning at the uninvited Mu Fang while intently stir-frying the vegetables, not paying much attention to his mention of an interview.
If it were someone else, they would have already taken the opportunity to curry favor with themselves and at least thanked them repeatedly. Mu Fang's smile deepened as he casually tossed the documents on the coffee table and walked towards the kitchen, his tone inexplicably light, "Xiao Ting, do you need any help?"
"Brother Mu, are you sure?" Tong Jing finally raised her head and looked at Mu Fang with a straight face, then her gaze swept up and down his body, taking in the elegant and noble attire that was more suitable for attending banquets and balls than cooking in the kitchen. Tong Jing withdrew her gaze indifferently and continued to stir-fry the vegetables.
He was rejected! Mu Fang burst out laughing, and he also knew that his proposal was quite abrupt and boring, because he couldn't cook at all. However, Mu Fang didn't leave, but instead turned around and lazily leaned against the marble countertop, staring intently at Tong Dian as she cooked.
Three dishes and one soup, the stew was cooked in a purple sand pot when Tong Jiang went out in the morning. After cooking for nearly ten hours, the aroma of black bone chicken and the rich flavor of mushrooms came to the nose, tempting people's appetite.
An hour later, Mu Fang ate his fill and left.
The soup was originally cooked for Tan Jiyuan to drink, but he won't be coming today. At noon, his secretary Yu Jing called and said he was still inspecting the project. The remaining soup was poured into a thermos and put in the refrigerator. A faint bitterness and fatigue surged up in her heart.
The mobile phone suddenly rang, Tong Jing was stunned for a moment, joy immediately surged into her eyes, and she quickly walked over to answer the phone. Inside was Tan Jieyan's somewhat low voice, "There are many things these two days, take care of yourself."
"Uh-huh." Listening to that formulaic voice, Tong Jiang's heart skipped a beat and she fell silent for a moment. "It's snowing, take care of yourself too, that's all." Without waiting for Tan Jieyan to speak, Tong Jiang hung up the phone first.
If it's said that they're lovers, but Tóng Jiǎo only feels like she and Tán Jì Yán are more like superior and subordinate when together. He occasionally calls her, but absolutely can't speak for more than three sentences before hanging up. It's always formal greetings, with a feeling of mutual respect like ice. This makes Tóng Jiǎo almost ask out loud several times: if there's no feelings, why not break up?
But this is not her own body, and Tong Ying has no right to decide what to do. As for the relationship between the owner of this body and Tan Jieyan, Tong Ying did not ask further, fearing that Tan Jieyan would notice something. However, every time she receives a phone call or sees Tan Jieyan, an inexplicable feeling of fatigue emerges, making Tong Ying feel unusually tired whenever she encounters Tan Jieyan, despite her usual cheerful demeanor.
Mu Fang had already left after dinner, and in the empty apartment, Tong Jiao revealed a wry smile, too lazy to clean up the dishes, and walked directly to the bedroom upstairs. After a good sleep, she would be her usual cheerful self again.
On the other end of the phone, in the back seat of the car, besides Tan Jieyan, there was Yu Jing. Yu Jing was Tan Jieyan's secretary and also one of his most trusted people. So if Tan Jieyan could be promoted from vice mayor to mayor, then Yu Jing would have two options: one was to continue following Tan Jieyan, the other was to aim for Tan Jieyan's current position as vice mayor.
For the first time, Tang Jiayang's face slightly froze after being hung up by Tong Ying. His stern and cold expression instantly returned to normal. Under the fatigue of official duties, his mind involuntarily recalled his encounter with Tong Ying.
That was five years ago, when Tan Jiyuan was still in Shanghai, he was set up by his opponent and was drugged. Tan Jiyuan, relying on his tough background from the military, managed to knock out the woman in the room. In order not to be detected by people outside, he risked everything and escaped through the window on the 12th floor.
The opponent had made up his mind to frame Tan Jiaoyan, and the medicine was ruthless. When Tan Jiaoyan left the hotel in a dark alley, the medicine had already taken control. At that time, Tong Jing was a high school student who had just finished the college entrance examination, born in an orphanage, a bit lonely, a bit flashy, and scored very poorly, probably not even admitted to a junior college.
Tong Jiang got drunk and coincidentally met Tan Jieyan who was somewhat disoriented, a chaotic night ensued. When Yu Jing arrived, Tong Jiang had already woken up in tears, while Tan Jieyan was given a sedative by Yu Jing and only slowly came to after taking a shower.
In the dark car, there was only a faint light. Yu Jing glanced sideways at the man beside her, who always had a cold and stern face. In the political circle, everyone wore a hypocritical mask. It was also from that day five years ago that Yu Jing truly wanted to follow Tan Jieyan, a man from a military family, who rose through the ranks in the political circle with ease, almost as if he could command the wind and rain at will.
Five years ago, Tan Jiyuan was at the most critical period of his political career. If he could be transferred back to Beijing from Shanghai, it would be a qualitative change. So the only girl who existed as a stain would definitely be eliminated. Whether it was a car accident, a natural disaster or a man-made one, it depended on Tan Jiyuan's order. But Tong Jing was still alive and had lived safely for five years.
Five years ago, the hotel had police cracking down on prostitution and journalists in tow, with a massive show of force. Unfortunately, the other party did not expect that under the influence of such drugs, Tan Jiaoyan would still be able to escape from the hotel.
Tan Jieyan did not choose to silence Tong Qiang, nor did he choose to buy her off with money. Instead, he chose to take care of Tong Qiang and used his connections to get her admitted to Anhui University's English department. The tuition fees were paid directly from Tan Jieyan's personal account into Tong Qiang's bank account. After Tong Qiang graduated, Tan Jieyan gave her the Beijing house and continued to provide her with a monthly living allowance of 10,000 yuan. All this was funded by Tan Jieyan using his annual company dividends, making it impossible for anyone to detect anything even if they investigated.
After learning about Vice Mayor Tan Jieyan's identity, Tong Jing didn't do anything and continued to live quietly in the apartment. Yu Jing was cautious and careful, so he kept sending people to secretly monitor her. However, five years passed and Tong Jing really didn't cause any trouble or publicly reveal what happened with Tan Jieyan back then.
It's actually something that happened back then, and even if Tong Yan said it now, no one would believe her. But five years ago, a child was born and sent abroad by Tan Jieyan, which is probably the only connection between the two people left.
