THE EVERSTAR

Legends claim that the Everstar descended from the heavens roughly two millennia ago, sent as a gift from the gods. The Whirnochian Empire was the first nation to harness the power of the Everstar, using it to power their mega-city that reached beyond the clouds by building on top of the star itself.

However, five hundred years after the star was gifted to them, Whirnoch's empress, Anaika Caelan, let her greed overtake her thirst for knowledge and peace. This led to the citizens revolting, resulting in a civil war that ultimately ended in the complete and utter destruction of the once-mighty empire.

Towards the five-year-long war's end, the Everstar began to reascend, for the gods had rescinded their blessing, deeming humanity unfit. However, these foolish so-called deities underestimated the Emperess of Whirnoch's infinite arrogance, and due to this oversight, Anaika was able to create a sword imbued with the power of the Everstar, the Eversword.

The empress used this blade to slaughter the gods, sparing only three of the original thirty or so who had descended with the Everstar. These three were Benevitae, the goddess of kindness and life, Lustitatis, the god of justice and stealth, and finally Fideiivendi, the god of survival and loyalty. The trinity decided to break their sacred oaths of not harming any mortal being and banished Anaika to the Grimdeep, where she stayed for almost two thousand years. The Eversword was split into two blades as it proved impossible to destroy.

These two blades were the Demonslayer and the Godslayer, both hidden at the world's edges.

Due to having broken their oaths, the trio of gods were banished from the heavens, their names tarnished and their powers weakened. They remained on the land of Everstar, watching over the very mortals who had renounced them.

With its creators reduced to nothing but corpses, the Everstar plummeted to the planet, the city in the clouds falling apart as its base foundation cracked apart. Upon making contact with the planet’s surface, the Everstar not only acted as an asteroid, killing most life on the planet, but it also shattered into trillions of pieces, some the size of majestic stallions, whilst others were the size of small pebbles. The larger ones were buried deep within Everstar's surface, and the smaller ones were used as sources of power, being combined with materials from deep within the planet to create tools and weapons of immense power.

The world did not burn for long, however, as the Evercore took root deep within Knerosphere. It healed the planet’s surface, giving life to new organisms and shaping the world over another three hundred years.

Throughout the next nine centuries, many nations rose and fell, and these three gods watched from the shadows, never interfering. However, only ten to fifteen years ago, a new evil older than the first gods sprang into the seemingly never-ending cycle, catching all three gods off guard. The Ancient One, once known as the Dreadlord, rose armies of creatures that had never been seen before. With this new enemy, rumors of the Godslayer's location being found by the Vassal chosen by the Ancient One spread like wildfire.

The Kamakarut Empire emerged, built on the blood, tears, and sweat of countless innocent deaths, like any other nation. But the difference was that at the helm was the Ancient One, and its chosen Vassal, Cassian Wanlass. Together, Cassian and the Ancient One tore through the Land of Everstar, bringing death and destruction wherever they went in their search for the Evercore.

Their hands forced by fate, the three gods chose their own saviors, using their last breaths to imbue their champions with their powers using special shards of the Everstar called Runes. Alaric Draco, Griffin Thorne, and Nienna Godric.

Benevitae chose Alaric, who was born into the lineage that ruled the noble Dragonspear Kingdom, and gave him the task of locating the Demonslayer, which he would use to defeat the threat of Kamakarut, the Godslayer, and perhaps even the Ancient One itself.

Nienna was sworn into the Whisperfang Guild, a group of elite assassins whose allegiance was not pledged to a single country, but rather only to Lustitatis, who chose her as his Vassal due to her inability to stay away from exacting justice upon the unjust.

Griffin was chosen by Fideiivendi and was meant to be one of their strongest; however, his nation betrayed him after he was announced as the third Vassal. The royals of Iceridge imprisoned him within the Dive, an international prison located in the Stormcrest Kingdom. Here, he was meant to be broken down and trained to be a human weapon, but after the Blood Moon Banquet, the Stormcrest Kingdom fell into ruin, and Griffin was freed by a group of wanderers scavenging through the prison. Once out, the Ancient One manipulated him into turning against the gods and humanity. Griffin’s mental stability collapsed, and as such, his scythe, which was meant to bring light to a dark world, became akin to the evil that scattered the world. With the Crimson Scythe, Griffin wrought havoc upon the lands of Everstar, slaughtering possibly hundreds. The once-golden Crimson Scythe, now stained and tainted with evil, became a symbol of death.

Thus began the Everwar, fought by the nations of Everstar, as the Star Alliance and the Wings of Fatality Alliance fought for control over the Land of Everstar. And behind the scenes, the Vassals fought for the Evercore, with both the war and the race leading to a final confrontation between the dead gods and a forgotten titan.
