Looking around, seeing all the poor meerkats getting slaughtered, I wished to do something, but it is not possible to stop this; it is in the past.
"Sometimes it hurts to see how destruction also has suffering following it, leaving scattered souls that have to keep living in the aftermath."
Looked to the right and saw Stella; she looked at the massacre without flinching. I didn't want to look anymore and checked back on Tinker, who didn't look in good shape after seeing all the blood scattered around.
"What do you want, Stella?" I whispered.
Stella nudged me with her feet.
"I want you to keep going, there are things that you will see and realize what it means to be worthy."
Owaow! As usual, no information to go on.
"Instead of being a servant as a maid, maybe you should give a little bit more information so I can do the worthy stuff if you have taken it upon yourself to make sure to transfer your powers," I whispered.
"Did you say something, Berk?" Tinker commented as she wiped her tears away.
Looked at Tinker as she seemed more sensitive than she actually behaves normally.
"Can you go wait by the portal? I will join you in a moment. Don't look at all this, it is not good for you." I told her as she slowly got up from the ground and limped back towards the portal, still crying, but it was obvious it was enough death for today.
"What do you really want, Stella? It is obvious that whatever the shit you are doing is not working."
Looked at her with a serious expression, and she gave me a weak kick on the chest as I fell on the ground with no energy to move.
"You need to listen to me, Berk Van Polan! If you ever want to be able to protect anyone around you and yourself, you need to listen to me."
I was fed up with these damn demons thinking they own everything.
"Yeah, like the one taking over my body and killing the king? Does that give me confidence to listen when you are the ones responsible for my death sentence, more or less?"
"Do not dare to blame us. We saved your life and the lives of many citizens in that accident. One life for many. If you had worked harder and wouldn't have been so weak, then the outcome could have been different."
"What are you talking about, demon? I was fighting several invincible enemies, and I am only a Freelance Private Investigator. What do you expect me to do, fart at the enemies?"
"Your insolent behavior makes me tired, as I have to live with it daily somewhere else. Take the meerkat and the Valantian woman and return. Tinker is important for you to be able to get all my powers."
I was going to say something before she vanished. White tank-top girl with huge tits in her early 30s who is a sociopathic bomber, Geez! I really wonder what can make her so important about Tinker that will make me the world's most worthy guy?
Walked back through the bushes when I saw three more bodies by the tree, and Tinker was playing with several meerkats that looked like babies. Beside them was a bigger one in Mejnis size, looking at me with a pink dot between the eyes. They escaped into the bushes when they saw me. More explosions went off nearby like we were in a live warzone.
"What was that?"
Tinker shrugged her shoulders.
"I think the big one is a female one, but several of the small ones looked different. Some had spots of different colors on their heads, and some did not. Maybe it was a mother with the children." Tinker tried explaining, sounding positive.
Well, the portal was still open, and Mejni was gone. Fake Mejni came through the bushes from the battlefield, dragging in one more dead meerkat. There were six dead ones by the tree in a blood pool that was getting bigger with every body. This Mejni didn't even bother with our presence or seem to feel we were a threat, and I didn't see any killer instinct from him. The other Meercat with a pink dot looked out from the bush and slowly walked out, leaving the babies behind, while fake Mejni was making sounds around the dead bodies in a stressed state. His tail went straight up as he circled the bodies, and his fur puffed out. I backed away toward Tinker, as I had a bad feeling about this. When Mejni saw the meerkat with the dot, he hit it on the head and made weird sounds.

"Is that his girlfriend or wife?" Tinker asked.
It made me think, but if he were a father, he would be worried. Pinky seems to have walked out of the bushes, knowing him, maybe, but his reaction and stance indicate that something is not right here. Pinky tried coming closer to him again, and he hit her hard this time, making her fall and get up in an instant, not showing any aggression back.
"I think they know each other, but Mejni seems to despise the Pinky one, the current one isn't exactly forthcoming, and this one doesn't look like it either."
Pinky tried moving around to approach him, but Mejni made a strange hissing sound, opened his mouth, and tried to hit Pinky on the head.
"You are right, it seems he hates the pink one. I wonder why?"
Tinker was right about that. He really hated the pink one. Pinky moved around, then looked like it gave up and stared at him for a while before disappearing back to the babies behind the bushes. Mejni moved around, very stressed, and kept shaking the bodies, trying to wake them up.
It was really hard seeing him trying to wake them up when they were all dead; he must have known they were all dead.
"I FOUND SOMETHING!" Someone screamed close by.
A strange animal sound came from the direction Pinky had gone. Mejni ran through the bushes, and I tried limping after him when a yellow light lit up close by, and I noticed the Pinky and the babies running up high on a rock, all standing on their feet, looking in our direction. Tinker was behind me as we came out on an open space in the grass, with Mejni pinned down with a staff right on his head as he struggled to get loose. To the left was a large creature, burned more or less to a crisp. A wizard or a Mage, I think, was pinning him down when four others surrounded with all of them stomping on Mejni, who was bleeding all over, barely moving. Tinker tried to pass me to do something about it, but I grabbed her shoulder and stared at her. We can't do anything anyway, and he obviously did not die here because he was traveling with us. Grabbed her arm and pulled her behind me again.
A bunny and a dwarf stared down on the burned body, and it was obvious that both were in rage.
"It killed my comrade, I am going to kill it!" The dwarf moved towards Mejni and swung the axe down towards his head when someone grabbed the handle of the axe and pushed the dwarf aside with purple eyes staring down on it.
"Idiots! There is a bounty on a Herkattona from the Valiant Queen in Paladin. Why are you trying to kill a bounty worth a million Randid? Are you blind? Did you not notice the yellow electricity? It is an assassin from the Herkattona clan."
The dwarf refused to meet the man's eyes as it picked up the axe and walked away. Now I understand why he was in prison with me for two years, or even longer, as he was already there when I arrived.
"Take it and lock it in, we are getting paid both for the mission and an assassin with a bounty." The scary purple-eyed man told the rest.
With pale skin, dressed in a weird suit in dark purple, this bastard was really sticking out from the crowd.
I looked at the rock, but Pinky and the babies seemed to have escaped.
"Let's go back!" I whispered to Tinker.
"No, I want to see what will happen."
I turned to her and said:
"Nothing more will happen because he was sent to jail in Paladin, as both he and I were prisoners there. Okay, there is nothing more to see."
We moved back, and when we came through the bushes, we saw our Mejni sitting there, tears in his eyes, holding two of the meerkats' heads close to his body.
"Tinker...Go back through the portal. I will come with Mejni."
"Are you sure? What if he kills you?"
I looked back at her, surprised by her comment. It is like she doesn't have any confidence in the team she belongs to at all.
"Eh...Well, let's hope he doesn't kill me."
She stared at Mejni while she backed in through the portal. I moved slowly forward and sat down on my knees, looking at Mejni, whose eyes looked normal now, but he growled a little.
"Hey, pal! It is time for us to go. We need to go!"
He was watery around the eyes, pushing the dead two meerkats even closer, clenching them harder now against his body.
My breathing was completely off, and I couldn't pass out here. What a bad feeling it would be getting stuck in a meerkat's past.
Reached out my hand to him.
"Come on, buddy! All this is a memory of your past." I tried explaining when he slowly released the two meerkats.
He growled at me, but this time the growling had no stop.
"Mejni! I promise you, my friend, we will find them, and we will kill them...all of them responsible for destroying your home."
He stopped growling, looked down at the ground, slowly moved towards me, then stopped, staring at me.
"I promise, buddy! We will get them!" I continud.
He walked up to me and curled up at my stomach, which reminded me of how much pain and agony I was in.
Grabbed him, slowly got up from the ground, limped to the portal, looked back one last time at the tragedy, and remembered my brother: family is what life is all about.
When we came through the portal, I saw the damn box floating in the air.
'Congra...' and everything went black.
