Chapter 7: Kubo's Odyssey**
The battle was brutal. Gotier fought with every fragment of strength he had, his priestly techniques put to the test. He invoked seals and barriers, trying to contain the fierce attacks of the Kugutsu.
Zeke, still under control, charged at Yuzuki, his face marked by the pain of an internal struggle to reclaim his freedom.
— Yuzuki... I do not want this... — he whispered between devastating blows.
Yuzuki barely had time to process Zeke's words. He knew he could not retreat. Every strike he dodged or blocked was one that might have hit Paige, Akari, or Fryr as they fled.
— Yuzuki, no! — Gotier shouted, seeing Yuzuki leap in front of a combined attack from Zeke and Kubo's Kugutsu. The impact threw Yuzuki against the wall, blood trickling from his mouth as he struggled to stand.
— You are persistent, boy — Kubo mocked. — But persistence is not enough.
Mao, inside Yuzuki, watched it all with cruel delight.
— **You are at your limit, Yuzuki. Why not let me take over? With me, this would be over in seconds.**
— I do not need you — Yuzuki murmured, spitting blood and rising once more.
Meanwhile, Paige watched the fight with wide eyes. Seeing Yuzuki, Gotier, and even Zeke fight so fiercely filled her with guilt and despair.
— This is all because of me... — she whispered, tears streaming down her face.
Noticing Paige's expression, Gotier shouted:
— Paige, it is not your fault! You are stronger than he made you believe. Do not let his lies define you.
The battle reached its apex when Kubo, in an unexpected move, revealed that it had all been a game. His Kugutsu withdrew momentarily as he laughed, watching the group, battered and exhausted.
— You think you achieved anything here today? How foolish — he said, as the chamber began to tremble.
Yuzuki, barely able to stand, glared at Kubo.
— This is far from over — he declared.

### **Darkness Unleashed: Revelation and Despair**
The combat in Kubo's castle gained a suffocating intensity. The time-darkened walls seemed to pulse with the malice emanating from the scientist and his Kugutsu. Darkness flooded the chamber as Kubo, more threatening than ever, unveiled his devastating techniques. "The All-Devouring Shadow" turned the surrounding space into an impenetrable abyss, sucking away all light and thwarting any counterattack attempts. Gravity itself shifted, making every movement of the group a colossal effort.
— You really think you can stop me? — Kubo's voice echoed. — Behold true darkness!
Yuzuki stood at the front lines, panting, as he protected Gotier and Akari from the relentless onslaught of Kubo and his Kugutsu. With a gesture, Kubo's Kugutsu manifested fully. It took on an amorphous form of pure shadow, its contours drifting like living smoke.
— You are persistent, boy — Kubo taunted. — But no matter how hard you fight, your light will be consumed.
At his command, the creature expanded its nebulous body, engulfing the surrounding light. Akari, Fryr, and Paige ran toward the exit, but the atmosphere grew ever heavier. Gotier hesitated—using his power was a line he had vowed never to cross, but the situation was spiraling out of control.
Yuzuki felt his body grow heavier as the Kugutsu's gravity-altering ability took effect. His knees buckled for a moment, but he forced himself to stand, shielding Gotier from a frontal strike by the creature.
— Yuzuki... — Zeke murmured, as if trying to say something before Kubo's control yanked him back.
Mao, observing everything, smiled darkly.
— **Interesting. That seal on Zeke is more fragile than it appears. A bit more pressure and perhaps...**
— I am fine — Yuzuki responded, despite blood trickling from his brow. — I cannot protect everyone if you all stand still!
Kubo seized on the group's hesitation to intensify his assault. The shadows wrapped around Yuzuki and Gotier as if they were helpless prey. Sensing the danger, Akari cried out:
— Yuzuki! Gotier! Do something!
Gotier used his *Dankai* technique to erect a barrier around himself and Yuzuki. He managed to hold it for a few minutes, but knew it would not last.
Meanwhile, Mao continued to study Zeke's seal. He finally discovered a significant weakness and decided to act.
— **Yuzuki, I will need your help with this. Will you trust me?**
Yuzuki hesitated, but there was no time to argue.
— Just do it!
With Yuzuki's permission, Mao channeled his energy to try to shatter the seal. Zeke cried out in pain as his internal struggle intensified. For a moment, his eyes cleared and Kubo's influence vanished—but only until the next wave of control submerged him again.

### **The Demon's Release**
The atmosphere in the castle was suffocating. The warped gravity made the floor tremble and bodies feel as if the earth itself were trying to devour everything. Zeke, still staggering after Mao freed his seal, clenched his fists. He felt freedom returning to his body, but an unknown price hung over his mind.
Meanwhile, at the heart of the castle, Kubo laughed in triumph.
— You cannot escape. This place is my domain. Light does not exist here—only shadow and gravity!
Yuzuki, sweaty and exhausted, stood beside Gotier. His face was pale, pain seeping from the deep wounds in his body. One eye was shut, bleeding profusely.
— I will not let you win, Kubo... — Yuzuki growled, staggering.
Kubo smiled, raising his hand. The darkness around him twisted into a devouring whirlpool.
— **Dark Vessel!**
In the blink of an eye, Kubo vanished, only to reappear behind Yuzuki. The gravity around the young man intensified, forcing him to drop to his knees. A precise strike hit his chest, opening a deep wound. Yuzuki let out a cry of pain, but found the strength to rise, shielding Gotier from another devastating attack.
Gotier watched in silence, his somber eyes evaluating the battlefield. He knew he had no choice. The power he had sworn never to use would now be necessary. His fingers trembled as they gripped the rosary around his neck.
— Yuzuki... I am sorry for this.
Yuzuki turned to the priest, trying to speak, but the blood in his throat stopped him. Gotier inhaled deeply, his expression hardening as he released the internal seal that had bound him for so long.
— **Don'yoku...** — Gotier murmured, his voice cold as a death sentence.
The energy around the priest shifted. The presence of his Kugutsu—the demon of envy—was overwhelming. A monstrous figure emerged behind Gotier, lanky and hunched, its glowing eyes seeming to see through the soul. Its voice was hissing and cruel:
— **Finally, you have given in, priest. Let the show begin.**
For the first time, Kubo hesitated, stepping back a little.
— Don'yoku... So you have finally revealed your true face, Gotier. This will be interesting.
Yuzuki, wounded, watched the demon's form, hope and fear mingling in his heart. Mao, by contrast, laughed in ecstasy inside Yuzuki's mind.
— **Oh, the priest is broken! This will be fun. Yuzuki, do you see this? They all have their dirty secrets. Now it is time to survive... if you can.**
***
### **The Emperor of Lightning and the Rise of Chaos**
The air crackled with the electricity emanating from Gotier. The priest's body was wrapped in a pulsating layer of golden lightning, lighting up the dark hall. The overwhelming presence of Don'yoku, the Emperor of Lightning, was impossible to ignore.
Gotier, his gaze heavy with pain and resignation, murmured:
— The light I bring is not salvation, but judgment. May the heavens forgive me for what I am about to do.
He raised his right hand, and a spear of electric energy began to form, humming and slicing through the air with brutal force.
— **Emperor of Lightning** — Gotier whispered, and the spear launched with the speed of a thunderbolt, piercing the ground and exploding in a shockwave that temporarily dispelled Kubo's darkness.
Meanwhile, Yuzuki was on his knees, his body a mass of wounds and blood. Inside him, a familiar voice began to echo.
— **You will not last like this, Yuzuki** — Mao whispered with a tone of false compassion. — **Let me handle it. Just for a moment... give yourself to me.**

Yuzuki tried to resist, but the weakness in his body was unbearable. Mao's shadow began to envelop him. His eyes, once full of resolve, now carried a disturbing crimson glow.
— Kubo... — Yuzuki's voice came out deeper, distorted, as Mao took control. — This Kugutsu will be my feast.
Kubo's eyes widened in terror.
— No... it cannot be! — he stammered. — That presence... it is him... it is Mao!
In a desperate act, Kubo fused with his Kugutsu, invoking the forbidden *Y?g?* technique. His body and the puppet's merged into a grotesque, towering form, covered in a glossy black carapace. His voice now echoed as two at once—a cacophony of despair and hatred.
— You have no idea what you are facing! — Kubo roared. — I am the darkness! I am gravity!
With a sudden movement, he vanished and reappeared within the shadows, using his most devastating technique: Dark Vessel.
The hall was in ruins. Don'yoku's light was beginning to fade as Gotier breathed heavily. In the corner of the hall, Zeke stood up, ignoring the pain, and ran toward Akari, Paige, and Fryr.
— Hold on to me! — he commanded. Zeke summoned his remaining strength and, with a fierce shout, struck the floor with a punch, creating a shockwave that dissipated the gravity around them for a moment. — Run!
In the center of the hall, Yuzuki, still under Mao's control, faced Kubo. Mao seemed relentless, but Yuzuki, deep down, fought to regain control.
— **You cannot win like this, Kubo** — Mao mocked, advancing with a swift attack. — **I am the hunger that never ends.**
Kubo growled, extending his hand and using his Dark Vessel technique to disappear again. However, when he reappeared behind Mao, he was met with a violent strike that sent him crashing into the wall.
Mao began to laugh, but his laughter was interrupted by a sensation of resistance. It was Yuzuki, trying to regain control.
— *Stop... I will not let you do this!* — Yuzuki shouted in his mind.
— **You have no choice, Yuzuki. You are dying without me.**
Kubo took advantage of the distraction and launched a direct attack. Yuzuki, still in internal conflict, managed to move his body enough to protect Gotier from the blow, but at the cost of a devastating wound to his chest. He screamed in agony as blood poured from him.
Anger grew in Gotier's eyes. He stood up, and Don'yoku, sensing the priest's determination, intensified his presence. The lightning around him became brighter and more violent.
— Kubo, you have crossed all the lines — said Gotier, his voice filled with a controlled fury. — There is no redemption for you.
Don'yoku began to speak, his deep voice resonating through the hall:
— **Release me completely, Gotier. Show him the true power of an emperor.**
Gotier hesitated. He knew that releasing Don'yoku fully could destroy everything around him. But the sight of the gravely injured Yuzuki drove him forward.
— **Emperor of Thunder... Final Form!** — he shouted, and his presence exploded in electric energy.
Gotier did not hesitate. With Don'yoku under his control, he advanced, each step lighting the ground beneath his feet. His voice, though tinged with sadness, was firm:
— You may be the darkness, Kubo, but even the longest night ends with the dawn.
Gotier raised both hands, creating a pulsating sphere of electric energy above his head.
— **Emperor of Thunder... Final Chant!**
He hurled the sphere at Kubo, who tried to absorb it with his gravity, but the light was too much to contain. The resulting explosion engulfed the hall, tearing screams from Kubo.
The chapter ends with Kubo disappearing into a whirlwind of shadows, leaving the group in ruins and Yuzuki on the brink of death. Mao, still in control, watches with a twisted smile, while Gotier prepares for the next strike, knowing that the battle is far from over.
The End of Darkness and the Battle Against Perdition**
The darkness that had dominated the castle began to recede. The shadows, once threatening and relentless, now dissipated, as if being sucked away by an invisible force. Kubo's power, the crushing gravity, and the treacherous shadows were slowly disappearing, leaving behind only the echoes of a battle still in progress.
Inside the hall, the scene was even more chaotic. Kubo, with his last breaths of resistance, was consumed by Mao. The monstrous figure of Kubo, his skin covered by a dark layer and his Kugutsu as an extension of his own essence, writhed in agony as Mao's uncontrollable force devoured him. The transformation was swift and relentless. Kubo's energy became a beam of black light that was swallowed by Mao with a snap of his teeth.
— **You were a worthy meal** — Mao murmured, with a cruel smile as he looked at the void where Kubo had been.
The flesh and soul of Kubo were slowly dissolved by Mao's growing darkness, until the last trace of the scientist completely vanished.
Gotier, his face marked by pain and concern for Yuzuki, advanced, his hand firmly holding the lightning spear. The air around him was saturated with the pulsating electricity of Don'yoku. His eyes, no longer burdened by compassion, were focused on the greater threat before him.
— Mao! — shouted Gotier, his voice full of fury and determination. — Do you think you can consume everything around you? You will not destroy what is left of humanity in Yuzuki!
Mao, now fully in control of Yuzuki's body, had Yuzuki's gaze extinguished, his eyes now completely red, glowing with a malevolent light.
— **You are mistaken, Gotier. Yuzuki is just the vessel. The true power is within me, and you cannot stop it** — said Mao, his laughter echoing through the room.
The darkness around Mao began to intensify once more, but this time it was accompanied by a surge of electrical energy. The confrontation was about to become even deadlier. Gotier threw his lightning spear at Mao, but the darkness around the demon distorted, absorbing the attack almost naturally.
— **Impressive, Gotier. But you still do not understand the depth of the abyss you are about to fall into** — Mao taunted, his eyes now glowing like hellfire.
Don'yoku, the emperor of lightning, seemed to feel the tension in the air. The battle between light and darkness was intensifying, and Gotier's energy, already overloaded, was beginning to show signs of failure.

### **Outside the Castle**
Outside, Akari, Paige, Fryr, and Zeke were finally out of the castle, but they had no time to relax. The weight of the battle still affected them, the tension in the air was palpable, and the darkness that once dominated the castle was now dissipating, but something still did not feel right.
Akari, her eyes fixed on the horizon, realized that while the darkness was dissipating, it still left behind a trail of desolation. She looked at Zeke, who seemed more tense than ever.
— The darkness is fading, but we cannot let our guard down — she said with a grave voice, looking at Paige, who was visibly worried.
Zeke, with a distant look, replied:
— It is Kubo's gravity... he was controlling all the energy here. Now that he has been consumed, that force is leaving, but the fight is not over.
Paige, with teary eyes, looked at Fryr, who was by her side, holding her hand.
— Do you think... do you think Yuzuki will survive? — she asked, her voice trembling.
Fryr looked at her with a firm gaze, trying to hide her fear.
— He will. We cannot lose hope now, Paige.
As the conversation continued, Zeke looked back at the castle, the sight of the battle intensifying his anguish.
— They are fighting something bigger than we imagined — said Zeke, his voice heavy with sorrow.
He was right. Inside the castle, the real battle was just beginning.

### **Inside the Hall: The Second Round**
The battle between Gotier and Mao raged on. Mao's darkness spread across the floor like a thick mist, absorbing the light around it. Gotier, with Don'yoku's lightning still illuminating his figure, was getting closer and closer to giving in. His body was beginning to succumb to the pressure of the demonic power that Mao was unleashing.
Mao, laughing cruelly, advanced toward the priest, extending his hands, ready to crush everything around him.
— **You will never understand, Gotier. I am the end of everything! The light you try to hold onto is a weak beacon in the vastness of my darkness!**
Gotier, his face marked by exhaustion, did not hesitate. He knew he was risking everything. With a desperate strength, he shouted:
— Don'yoku, release yourself completely. Give me your true power!
As the last word left his lips, the energy around him intensified, becoming a wave of pure electricity. Don'yoku's power exploded, stronger than ever, as he shot a beam of lightning directly at Mao. But Mao, with a devilish smile, used his own ability to distort the reality around him. He surrounded Gotier in a sphere of darkness and gravity, tightening the pressure on the priest.
— **You will not succeed, Gotier. No matter how much you fight. I am the true power in this world** — said Mao as the darkness enveloped him more and more.
Gotier, about to pass out, looked at Yuzuki, who was trapped inside the mental prison created by Mao. The priest knew that the only way to save Yuzuki and defeat Mao was by sacrificing even more of himself.
Gotier was on his knees, his body heavy from the overwhelming power of Mao. Trapped in a cage of black energy, his eyes were half-closed, nearly losing consciousness. The layer of lightning that once illuminated his figure was dissipating, and he knew he did not have much time left.
Mao, now completely at ease in control of Yuzuki's body, watched with a sadistic smile.
— **You fought well, priest, but you are at the end of the line. There is no light that can survive my darkness.**
Suddenly, Paige, despite Akari's pleas, ran back toward the castle. Her bare feet hit the cold, cracked ground, but she did not care. The fear in her eyes was overshadowed by something stronger: the need to save Yuzuki.
In the main hall, Mao laughed, sensing the girl's approach.
— **Ah, little Paige. What a delightful thrill. Let's give her a final show.**
She ran in, her eyes watery, and hugged Yuzuki with all the strength she had.
— Please, come back! Do not leave us, Yuzuki! — she begged, tears streaming down her face.
Mao hesitated. For a moment, his connection to Yuzuki's body weakened.
— **What... is this?** — he growled.
It was enough for Yuzuki to regain control. He opened his eyes, now glowing with an intense light, and smiled slightly at Paige.
— Idiot — he murmured, addressing Mao. — I have been waiting for this moment for a long time. Thank you, Paige, for saving me.
He struggled to rise, his body still wounded, but now filled with a new determination. Looking at Gotier, who was still fighting against his imprisonment, he declared:
— With Gotier's teachings, I will use the *Genkai* technique to strengthen my control over you, Mao.
Yuzuki closed his eyes, gathering every fragment of strength left in him. His mind dove into his training with Gotier, recalling the priest's words:
— *"The Genkai technique is not just a skill. It is the manifestation of your will to resist, to not be consumed, and to impose yourself on the Kugutsu."*
He raised his hands, and a glowing seal began to form before his chest. Mao, perceiving the danger, screamed inside him:
— **Stop! You do not know what you are doing!**
Yuzuki ignored him.
— Your mistake was devouring Kubo and not realizing that the priest Gotier's technique still emanated light in the body you took. Now, you are weak. It is the right time to capture you.
The seal expanded, glowing like a miniature sun, illuminating the entire castle. Mao howled in pain, his dark presence being pushed back into the depths of Yuzuki's body.
With Yuzuki's light breaking the darkness, the cage around Gotier began to crack. He lifted his head, his eyes shining with a new determination.
— Yuzuki... you did it — he murmured.
But he knew the price would be high. Struggling to rise, Gotier channeled the remains of his energy and shot a lightning bolt directly at Yuzuki's seal, strengthening it even further.
— This is my last offering. Make it count — he said before collapsing to his knees, exhausted.
The hall fell silent. The darkness had receded, and Yuzuki's seal pulsed faintly on his chest, signaling that Mao had been temporarily subdued. Paige still hugged him, sobbing softly. Akari and Fryr rushed in, followed by Zeke, who now looked at Yuzuki with a mixture of respect and concern.
Yuzuki, in a weak voice, looked at the group.
— This... is not over — he said before passing out.
The chapter ends with the group gathered, but the threat of Mao still hanging over them like a shadow.
