A Strange Creature

  Dorner

Dorner leaned his bare back against the bed. First, he’d been startled by something sticky on his cheek just to see eyes staring at him intently shoving information into his mind, then he was on the floor and the frog was hopping up and down like he was irritated. Then the half terrifying woman with the ability to control a black void substance came in and he’d been terrified.

Then she’d spoken like someone with very little understanding of another culture and explained her reasoning and he’d seen her take into consideration that she may have acted wrong. Then as he was wondering what a marvel of information, she was she’d kissed him.

Alright it was only a peck on the cheek but within moments she’d gone from something he felt cautious around to something that it seemed silly to fear.

He had to admit too that when he brushed the danger away, she was very eye catching. Never had Dorner seen even in the wide range that was the clock face colonies someone with her shade of white silver hair that hung around her shoulders or ears that curled backwards in little points lines of silver running up the backs. And despite her terrifying magic she was so very small. Looking almost like if you touched her wrong, she would crumble. But even all those things his mind could comprehend but when she looked at him the sharp thread of silver that boarded both the outer and inner ring of her iris.

He wondered if there were others on this world with a similar complexion. He hadn’t seen any but then again, he hadn’t seen all of the people here either.

He was a curious soul, and he was presented with an interesting individual. Who just happened to now spark two strands of interest rather than one? No matter attraction didn’t necessarily mean anything needed to happen.

Even as he tried to convince himself of that while he dressed, he wondered if they could even afford distractions. It had only been a year since the twelfth colony had evacuated and they still couldn’t get through to the other eleven. What if the Clockface colonies had fallen? What if they’d been the only ones of the twelfth to make it out?

Stolen from its original source, this story is not meant to be on Amazon; report any sightings.

The thoughts worried him greatly weighing on his heart. He himself had been born and raised in the twelfth colony.

Loret and Lonic had been born in the third colony on opposite ends. Loret’s family had transferred over to the twelfth colony when he’d been a child. Lonic though had been a teenager when he’d alone made the transfer. Dorner thought you could clearly see how different their paths were by how they presented themselves. Loret was quieter than most and preferred to assure that everyone felt included. To the point that it was so easy to tease him. While Lonic was a much harder fiercer individual. His temper worked faster then his reason and he easily made enemies. It was Sharvos the boy born outside of the colonies adopted into the household of Dorner’s family’s landlord who made them all work.

Sharvos from a very young age held an authority that made people bulk. He demanded honesty and never believed in telling them they couldn’t do what they wanted. Whatever they found important whatever they decided to do. He’d find the way to make it work.

He knew that if he decided to pursue anything toward the silver woman Sharvos would find a way to let him.

When he stepped out of the door his thoughts collided.

Silver and Copper. Two sets of metallic features standing together. She had the look of someone picking at words in a different language to find their meaning she stood so close to him that if the wind blew, she’d be touching him. Loret looked everywhere but at the woman.

“Why do you turn red when I look at you?” She asked him in such a blunt manor that even Dorner a man of study felt a bit flushed. Loret let out a sound a kin to a cornered animal. Immediately she scampered back hunching. “I’m really not scary. I know it seemed that way yesterday.” She reached into her pockets and held something out. “Do you like the fruity sweets?” She asked. Loret chuckled slowly and soft looking pleadingly at Dorner.

Dorner though was trying to work through the irrational irritation at how well they looked together. Loret needed people around him that kept talking despite his reactions.

“I’m not scared of you.” He tried telling her. Dorner felt it was a half-truth. Loret wasn’t reacting to her any differently then any other that tried getting close to him. The woman brightened immensely. And pushed the little colorful wrapped circles toward him. Loret caught them.

“Great then we can be friends?” She asked him. Loret flushed and opened and closed his mouth before nodding.

The woman whipped around, and purple eyes landed on him.

  “Ready?” She asked. Dorner nodded.
