The big man takes in a deep breath as he walks forward, thinking. ‘You can do this. You are a Titan of Battle, one of only three in the world.’ He places his hand on the pillar and grins at his friends. “I will see you on the other side.”
Mick looks around the safe room for clues, finding none, he steps to the open door. He gazes over the revealed space and finds a rocky cavern.
Mick catalogs the environment, ‘Damp, natural walls, floor, and ceiling.’ He notices spots on the ceiling have a faint haze, different from the rest of the stone. With a look right above the exit door to insure it is clear, He steps out of the safe room. Another look at the rocky chamber shows more of the discolored areas on the walls and floors. He receives a notification as he casts his Identify spell on a distorted area. UNASPECTED CAVERN SLIME: LEVEL 5. ‘Analyze.’ he thinks, gaining another notice. HIT OINTS : 63, IMMUNE TO PHYSICAL DAMAGE.

‘Uh oh I’m in trouble, You need to take it easy boy, Slow is cautious, cautious good, fast dead.’ Mick takes another look around him to find the closest slime. A slime on the roof is moving towards him. ‘Not hunting me, looking for food on the ceiling? Thanks Tanner, people die from not looking up, no one ever looks up.’ As he watches the slime’s movements for a short time, Mick contemplates how he is going to kill something he cannot damage. ‘My only Spell is Aura of Fear. I doubt that will damage them.’
Mick snorts out loud at the thought. The slime reacts by moving faster to him. ‘Hunt by sound, do you? Awesome most of my skills are sound based. Damn it, think. You know clever people. What would they do? Lilli and Karnna will be in the same boat as I am. Jester and the rest would just blast away with Spells.’ Mick’s eyes widen with excitement. Jester, he sees auras on people and items. Can I cast my fear spell on my sword and shield and cause damage?’
Mick puts thought to deed and casts his fear spell on the slime closest to him. The slime moves away fast. Along with two other slimes. ‘Okay, need to focus one at a time.’ He casts his spell on his sword, a glow surrounds the weapon. A new notice appears when he casts Analyze on the slimes again. ‘LEVEL 5 CAVERN SLIME, HIT PONTS 53, IMMUNE TO PHYSICAL DAMAGE.’
Mick exultantly advances on the first slime to reverse course back to him. He begins the fight in earnest. With his shield, he smashes into the slime, followed by an overhand chop. He deflects a slime dropping from the roof. Mick throws it on to his first opponent. Surprised to see the slimes attack each other, he scans his environment for the third slime. When he spots it approaching from behind, he spins, stabbing it with a sword thrust. Hitting a small object in the slime's center, it pops with a splash of clear fluid. A handful gets on his face, burning him.
‘Crap, acid blood. I forgot about that.’ A careful look around, and he focuses back on his two opponents. One slime remains, but is much bigger. A shield slam reduces the slime to a quivering mess. Another thrust on target and Mick dances backward, avoiding the splash this time. Another glance verifies he is clear for now.
‘Alright, critique, I need to hit harder, be faster, and see them easier. How? Only spell damage allowed. I need more Wisdom, spells will hit harder. Faster dodge? No, my Agility is okay as is. Spot the slimes faster, Perception. And a lot of luck to make it out with any healing potions left. Oh, wait, I have a luck stat now. Mick pulls up his Status sheet and studies it for a moment. Agility, should be fine. The small bonus for a 200 stat gives him a small dodge and parry bonus. Two points to Wisdom will take me to 160. Sixteen to Perception makes that 200. He throws the last 34 points to luck, chuckling softly to himself. ‘The rest would flip over that choice,’ he thinks.
With better stats and a new plan, Mick takes up arms against an opponent he is ill equipped to deal with. Mick casts Aura of Fear, this time better able to focus cast on just one slime. After casting his spell on his weapons. He sees much better damage. Mick works his way around the cave, killing slimes and collecting Unaspected cores. He hums a little song from Quincy’s tavern that has gotten stuck in his head. About axes flashing and swords, a sundering that brings Karnna and Lilly to mind.
The next cavern has slimes of multiple colors. Red, Blue, White, and Brown. When Mick casts Identify and Analyze spells on each color. He gets the notice: ELEMETAL SLIMES, FIRE, WATER, WIND, AND EARTH. LEVELS 8 TO 10, HIT POINTS 83 TO 129. SPELL CASTING POSSIBLE.
‘Well the fight just got harder, I expected this. Time to show these slimes what a Titan of Battle is all about. Ha.’ Mick takes a careful look around and above before stepping into the new chamber. A rock hits Mick in the head, bouncing off of his helm with a loud clang. He performs a stumbling spin toward the rock's origin and spots a small earth slime perched on a hidden shelf, perfectly positioned for an ambush. Mick, unthinkingly, slams his shield into the shelf holding the slime. A loud rumble sounds from the cave wall as rocks and dust fall, collapsing the entrance he just came through.
Mick jumps away from the falling rock, landing on a wind slime. The slime immediately engulfs his legs, accompanied by the hissing sound of his leg armor dissolving. Unable to see from the dust in the air, Mick casts his Aura of Fear Spell. The slime flees from him as it casts wind blades, clearing the dust away by accident. Mick spins in place to gain perspective on his new situation. Wide eyed with fear, he realizes he has gained the aggravation of the entire room. Every single slime is fleeing in terror, climbing up the walls and onto the ceiling. The slimes stop and pulse brighter. Mick, understanding what is about to happen, cowers down behind his shield, his last thoughts. ‘I didn’t tell them I loved them.’
Katie calls to the rest of Legacy, “Guys, it has been 30 minutes. We are ready for the next delve. Which of you are going next.?”
Milly jumps to her feet, “My brother isn’t out yet.”
“This dungeon is more like the ones found outside of the academy grounds. The instance resets every 15 minutes. Multiple parties can enter in the same day. The average time for completion with a party that is par for this dungeon is 3 hours. I would expect you all as individual delvers will be around 3 to 4 hours, perhaps longer.”
Milly looks at the others, “Do you guys mind if I go now. He is my twin, I can’t help thinking he is in trouble. I need to get my mind off of this. Do any of you mind?”
Legacy's remaining members support her with understanding. As Milly rests her hand on the dungeon pillar, Jax calls out, “Wait.” Rushing to her, he folds her in his arms and kisses her deeply. “I love you Milena Nicole Rasumun. Figured I should say that, just in case.”
Milly’s face blushes a heated red, “Love you too, Jester.” and vanishes into the dungeon's depths.
