The Chancellor sighed. Heavily. Three days ago ,twelfth-rang of Serabough Town's bell indicate three years mark since he gained the promotion to became Serabough Magician Guild's Chancellor. Sometimes he still reminiscing the passing of his master. His master were the true lover of magic and the most prominent researcher in her time. She would often complain to him that became chancellor were all paperwork and political intrigues, he could taste the disgust in her voice when she complained. He often thought that his master were exaggerating, how being the most high-ranked magician trouble her?
Three years ago, when the twelfth Serabough Town's bell just rang, he voice his thought to the fellow apprentice of his master. Unfortunately for him, his master seems to eavesdrop (even though in his defense, he was very sure that his master were spying on him, using her private scrying pool). To his surprise, his master didn't reprimand him, She laugh and laugh with the most joyous voice he ever heard, somehow giving him creeps. The next day, he was appointed to become next chancellor. And four days after that, with clique farewell letter "let's see how you handled it." she retired herself to the Greinard Village. Left him baffled and regretted.
Become chancellor were far from easy. To keep everything in balance so there are no misuse of power, board of council were appointed in the same level of power as the chancellor himself. Getting through proposal from them took lots and lots of effort. Not to mention, most of them were those snobby noble, but with even bigger ego and holier-than-thou attitude.
And one of the most difficult proposal to get through were the one that using significant amount of guild fund.
Of course, he able to spend some fund if it were deemed necessary. Like laboratory accident that caused broken apparatus. But, the council accountant were very, very, very meticulous. One gold deviation from the market value and she would reprimand him to be more strict with the money. The fund were everyone money, not yours, she said. Therefore we must assure ourselves that the last copper were spend wisely.
That's why, now he were very hesitant. The young elf before him had shown him his research. It was the most amazing application of magic he ever see. Using external mana to power five-circle magic, so that even a peasant could use it? He almost get heart attack when the elf show teleportation scroll that could be used a hundred times. In that split second, he deemed it the most importance to be able to get this elf into his circle of colleague. The technology itself still mystery to him. He intrigued to learn the technique, but it seems Gaia issue protection of the elf research. The elf called it patent.
The elf asked certain amount of exchange. And that exchange were costly. He could not imagine spend that amount of fund in this elf. The thought of the bashing he would got at board meeting were unbearable. But he couldn't let the elf go. If he refused the elf could simply asked another town Magician Guild for exchange, and they would gladly welcome him, losing him wasn't acceptable.
"Very well, I... accept your offer. But you should gave us more than that one scroll, Let's say, twenty?"
"That is too much chancellor."
"Hmm, how about I offer you certain class. I could see from your attire you're the new freedmen right? I'm very certain that this class will offer you much benefit and will be suited toward your next research."

"Do you think it really worth it?"
"Probably, nothing to lose if we just ask him."
"Excuse me, what actually you're selling? I don't seems to see any wares here." said the long-haired woman who seems to be Tyr Priestess.
"You're right Mam! I don't sell any items! I sell certain service!"
"Eh, what kind of service?" asked the priestess again, curious onlooker now begin to gather.
"You see, when you increase your Level or when you train yourself, your stats will increase right?"
"That's right." answer the woman, dumbfounded.
"But sometimes the increase of the stats it's not to your liking! For example tank-type knight gained agility, priest gain stamina, and rogues gained intelligence! Don't you think the knight will be more benefited if vitality is the one is increased? And the magician got the intelligence?"
"Of course. But we can't control that. When you train your body strength increased. Reading books increase intelligence, you can't change that!"
"Of course not! But I could change the aftermath! You see Dearest Customers, What I offer you here is called status gamble."
"Status Gamble what's that?" asked the obviously-warrior type man in the crowd.
"I could exchange your status to another type of status!"

"It's not! But, it's called gamble because you must determine three of status that you designed as targeted status. For example, you want vitality, and have lots of spare wisdom. You could gamble, let's say 15 wisdom! But, you have to provide another target status beside vitality, for example strength, and agility. After the gamble finished, for example you could get, 4 vitality, 10 strength, and 1 agility, you couldn't set the number of amount each status get, and more status you gamble, the more targeted status you should have. And I only could work with basic status that could be raised normally via increasing level, means no honor, no faith, no endurance and such."
"I don't believe it!" said another person in crowd
"Well, how about this, the first customer get free pass! Who want to try?"
Silence creep in. No one want to gamble their status, the kid here could be a charlatan.
"I will try." said the previous Tyr Priestess.
"Oh really miss?"
