Eclipse walked down the hall into the library and looked around for what felt like ages and come up with nothing.
“UGH! What am I supposed to be looking for? He cried out.
He then remembered to look up, answers be found in high. He flew up to one of the top shelves and saw ancient looking scrolls. He saw one that looked as though it’d been personally hidden. He moved the other scrolls around it out of the way and unrolled it.
At the top of the page was a name. “Darkstalker?” He tilted his head slightly. “The NightWing tribe’s first animus. Son of FoeSlayer and Prince Arctic.” He read aloud.
The rest was clawed though, as though someone didn’t want anyone to know. He placed it back and landed down. Now what? He thought but then it cascaded at him. Like waves in a roaring sea, slamming relentlessly and unkindly. The timeline screamed at him once more and he saw glimpses.
An eruption, screams, cries, sadness. A fourth moon, end of the war, then a mountain falls, something rises and one word.
“Grandson.”
Eclipse fell to the ground, his head pounding so hard, he wanted to shut it out to make it stop and then visions of an old castle appeared, familiar and abandoned.
World away, world of shame. Pain is wrought and growth over claims. Near the sea, the past be, travel there and seek. The answer in sight, the brightest night by year's end it will all be set right. Soon he’ll rise, the mountain will fall and Eclipse will fall.
Cryptic as always. Eclipse growled, he didn’t understand all of it and what he did understand he disliked.
“I fall? Does that mean I die?”
He most certainly didn’t like that idea one bit, and why was the timeline sending him on this goose chase? He hated how he seemed to find one answer and another question appeared. But then he saw her, so close and warm, the dragon he’d been searching for.
“Sunny,” he whispered.
The timeline made her so close as long as he didn’t mess up and he followed the right steps. He decided he needed some fresh air— or rather whatever could be considered fresh in this horrible environment.
He flew around the area and then felt the tingle of the timeline shift and heard the thoughts of dragon, familiar ones.
“We're almost out, I can’t believe we did that!” A light and joyful voice exclaimed.
“Clay please don’t set us on fire.” Another voice begged.
He looked around and barely noticed the color of Clay as they quickly moved away. Clay! his mind leaped; he wanted to run in after them, but of course that was a bad idea. A stray lava spray that kills him, Clay mistaking him for a NightWing and throwing him into lava. Glory spraying him with venom. Wait Glory? He looked back at Clay and noticed two NightWings holding on to him but those weren’t NightWings, it was Glory and some other dragon.
Another Vision pierced his head, Starflight here and Glory alongside him. Queen Vigilence, Glory begging her to give her tribe over to Glory and allow her to lead. Two futures. Battlewinner dies in both but one… Glory and Starflight get taken by lava, the other they live but something horrible happens.

That can’t happen, I won’t let it happen. He vowed. He watched as they went through a tunnel on the side of a mountain and waited to see if they’d come back. Where could they possibly go? He wondered, but they never returned.
He landed down beside it and felt a weird feeling about it, he wanted to enter it but right before he did he heard wingbeats.
“Eclispe,” Morrowseer’s unmistakable voice roared and he landed down. “What do you think you’re doing? Are you trying to run off again!”
Eclipse could sense he already made up his mind about what Eclipse was trying to do.
“No I wasn’t. I just…” he blanked, unsure of what to say. If he said the truth, branches of bad possibilities spilled forth and the Dragonets of Destiny all get thrown off into outcomes with so many different directions and it’s catastrophic. The other is to lie, but Sunny gets hurt. She’s upset, Morrowseer is smiling and then he’s not and Eclipse is happy.
“You just what?” Morrowseer growled.
“I just saw a weird hole and wondered why it was there.” He said plainly.
“Well now that you’re done with these little games we have matters to discuss, very important matters. It’s time we bring Starlight home.”
They began to move back towards some cave with voices of dragons, some very minor, but one one seemed to be of some importance.
“Starlight, seriously, he’s coming here?” Eclipse’s voice rose.
“Yes, he has clearly failed to do his job properly and the Dragonets of Destiny are a failure.” Morrowseer grumbled.
Eclipse would have begged to differ, in most futures it went quite well for them; except for that one and that one and that one… ok maybe not most futures but in some it went well and that was good enough.
“Oh Starflight, I can’t wait to meet him again, it will be so wonderful.” Eclipse smiled.
They landed down and Morrowseer turned back to Eclipse, that stern and menacing expression was somehow raiding more than usual.
“What do you mean again? Have you… No, you didn’t.” Morrowseer's mind flared with thoughts of horrible things and punishments to do to Eclipse if he was right. “You’ve talked to the dragonets haven’t you? You could ruin everything!” Morrowseer shouted. Eclipse noticed behind him, at the entrance of the cave, was a very familiar looking NightWing before she dared back in and disappeared.
“No I haven’t,” Eclipse responded quickly.
Morrowseer moved closer, “don’t lie Eclipse.” He warned sternly.
“I’m not, I truly haven’t spoken to them.” It wasn't a lie, Eclipse hadn’t spoken to them, Falcon did.
Morrowseer just grunted and they walked inside the cave, inside were five and one was Squid, wearing that crown Eclipse had made with awful glee.
“These are the new Dragonets of Destiny as the old ones failed. The only maybe salvageable is Starflight. Now you of course know Squid.”
The SeaWing looked up and his eyes beamed, his first thought was something along the lines of more treasure but Eclipse was not doing that.
“Then there is Orche,” he pointed to the MudWing.
Orche had a very uninteresting mind, he was hungry and thought about food like Clay but had none of the warmth and charm.
“Flame,” He pointed to SkyWing who was already glaring into Eclipse.
Eclipse didn’t see them ever getting along but somewhere in his future they would meet again. The SkyWing just seemed to want Eclipse as far away from him as possible.
“Viper,” the SandWing was far away from everyone else.
Something awful is going to happen to her, utterly tragic but someone how unavoidable. Eclipse felt some small pity for her.
“And then where is she,” Morrowseer looked around.
“Right here!” A dragon exclaimed and Eclipse jumped.
He turned around to see a NightWing, and she had… teardrops beside her eyes like him. Could she read his mind? Did she know he was coming?
“You must be Brighteyes,” she said with confidence.
“No, that’s not it.” He chuckled.
“Are you sure? I’m pretty sure that who you are, I’ve seen visions of you.” She nodded her head as if that’d make it more true.
“No, I’m…” he wanted to say his name was Eclipse, he wanted to be able to connect with her on even that basic level; but no, if he did that the future was dark, oh so dark. “I’m Shadowclaws.”
Morrowseer grumbled but Eclipse shot him a look that said, just play along for once in your life.
“Hm Shadowclaws, well it’s nice to meet you, I’m Fatespeaker.” She smiled.
Fatespeaker seemed to be very important in the timeline. He definitely saw their paths crossing many times and her being a great friend. A friend, how nice that is to think about.
A NightWing guard came in, “Sir he’s here, along Deathbringer.”
“Where is he?” Morrowseer smiled.
“In the dragonet dormitory with Fierceteeth and some others.”
“Eclipse with me,” Morrseer gestured. “The rest of you stay and be ready for when I return.”
They walked out of the cave and Eclipse smiled, finally I get to meet Starflight, oh I wonder what he’s like.
