The scroll that warned about the fate of the world with a creature like Zephyr didn’t just condemn Zephyr. There were many things it condemned.
They were thing Elytra would have never questioned.
Just as she never questioned the need for her to lack an identity.
It seemed this world was changing her perception by the moment.
In this world it meant everything for her to be Elytra. It meant she existed. It meant Zephyr wasn’t alone. It meant their was someone fighting for their lives to be different.
She didn’t know if her fate was gifted by the Gods… but she also no longer cared.
Her only concern at the moment was getting herself and Zephyr ready for school.
“I don’t like this.” Zephyr stated.
“You can feel that way but we are required to wear uniforms too school.” Elytra answered easily to his pouty cat demeanor.
“There is no law that states what we have to wear.” Zephyr grumbled. Elytra sighed. Zephyr was brilliant enough to have read through multiple law books in order to follow it to the letter.
Unauthorized duplication: this tale has been taken without consent. Report sightings.
“Kid laws.” She corrected. Yet all his brains didn’t prepare him for Elytra’s unwavering arguments.
“Kid laws are not able to be prosecuted in courts.” She stated.
“Maybe but they can call attention to us and that will make people look closer at us and I don’t think all the activities you sneak out for are absolutely the letter of the law.” Elytra offered and Zephyr huffed out a breath. “Besides, you look lovely. Absolutely dapper.” Elytra complimented. And the more she complimented the more he calmed into wearing the uniform with pride.
Elytra rolled her eyes.
Compliments always worked.
Zephyr was the easiest book for her to read. She could look at him and see exactly what his arguments would be or what his attention was set on.
He would never fully accept the concept of kid laws but if she stated her laws he never questioned them. Which was exactly why she didn’t over use her laws on stupid things that her brother could use his own exquisite mind to logic through.
Her laws were no blood that would threaten their lives and if he felt the need to kill that it had to be in the defense of someone else.
So, far he’d only stuck to broken bones and cuts, refraining from any removal of life since their escape.
She was counting child vigilante justice as a win for their future and was strongly considering what careers that would allow Zephyr to be able to in the most structural way exist as he needed.
Elytra glanced at her school supplies.
And wondered is she had enough time to consider anything outside them making it to adulthood without any trouble.
