Author’s Note:
Dear readers,
I’m really sorry, but I’ve been sick the past couple of days (the flu is like a bitch) and won’t be able to post an update today. But don’t worry—I’ll be posting Chapters 13 & 14 together next Sunday! Again, I’m sorry for the delay, but of course, this wouldn’t be me if I didn’t leave you with a little teaser for Chapter 14.
Be aware—it’s an unedited draft, so watch out. Usually my chapters go through a lot of editing by my hand: first content edits, then separate grammar etc. edit , and then formatting. This one is raw, unpolished, and straight from my brain to you.
Here’s a bittersweet moment to await:

The moment Adrien started speaking, it was like Raven was compelled, and everything went on pause but him. Every word that fell out of his mouth felt like a spell against her. She didn’t know if it was the irritation that seemed to follow him, the subtle anger making her claw her pencil too tight, or something else.
All she knew was her mind was blank. The only thing it knew to do was hang on every word he spoke. It was weird, new, and at first her mind tried to fight it off, but somehow… it gave in.
It could have been his eyes in the sun, deep blue jewels holding her stare, or the way he leaned closer, breaths brushing, gently touching her tightened hand. It could have been the sanctuary of the place, zoning everything else out, letting herself feel.
And no, she didn’t move. Didn’t shy away. Didn’t want to. For the first time in a long time, it was quiet. Really quiet.
Then the bell rang. Reality crashed in. She shoved him harder than intended. He stumbled, taking a few steps back. She had bared enough.
Now the question arises: how did Raven land in that situation, and what the hell is Adrien doing? —(N.N)
