We got interrupted almost immediately.
Fuck you, nature.
"Then again, the rain is nice," I pointed out. "Gives a good ambiance, and you are the Water Dragon right?"
"Yes, I am," Aqua replied, as I followed her with my head as she walked along the cold and stormy beach. A nice deserted island in a more tropical region, white sandy beaches, palm trees and fuzzy coconuts about the size of a house hanging from them. Oh, right, I should mention, the palm trees were taller than I was long, from the tip of my tail to the tip of my snout, and each leaf was almost the size of one of my wings.
Their roots were also all the way down to the oceanic floor.
The island we were on was not a volcanic island, it was actually formed around about fifty ginormous palm trees. When I saw it underwater, I thought it looked like a gigantic, naturally formed pier, complete with a coral reef growing on the underside.
According to Aqua, she had decided this spot as our date when she saw the reef, as they were rare, colorful and frequently populated by delicious fish.
Unfortunately as we got there a storm began to brew.
"The ocean does not care, though the storm may rage above, below, all is at peace as it ever is," Aqua intoned, a small smile drawing itself on her face, her cheeks a little bit pink. She wasn't blushed from the romantic atmosphere of our rainy walk, rather, it was because of the actual, real reason why Aqua had chosen this island as our date spot.
"You're drunk," I pointed out.
"I'm not drunk, I'm fine," she accused, grabbing one of those large yellow strawberry like fruits, waving the Stranana at me, before bringing it to her mouth and taking a huge bite out of it. "These aren't as sweet or as fine as the ones from back home," she said, humming. "They taste a little grassy."
How something could taste grassy was beyond me, I ain't a cow, I don't know what grass tastes like.
"And the buzz is nowhere near as strong," she added, "but that just means I can eat more before I'm," she burped, "affected!"
"Yyyyeah right," I said, bringing my head closer to her body, sniffing her. She already stank of that mix of strawberry and banana and alcohol. Our bodies processed the strananas very quickly after all. "If I breathe too hard on you, you'll light up."
"Fire does nothing to me, I've killed every Fire Dragon that has sought to challenge me!" she called, pumping her fist. "I've done it before and I'll do it again!"
"How many was that?" I asked, purely out of curiosity.
"I mean it was just the one but, but I killed him real easily!" she hiccuped, "I just put his head under the water and held it there until the bubbles stopped! Believe it!" she said, finishing off the Stranana and licking her fingers to get every last drop of its juices.
"Okay that's enough," I pointed out, unfolding my arms from under me and pointing a claw at her, shooting some green zappy zaps, the color of healing energy, at her, thinking about how I could imitate those healing spells I remember from RPG videogames, turning the green bolts of lightning into wispy ethereal orbs that left trails behind themselves, in green, white and blue, wrapping around and then going into Aqua's body.
"Huh- the buzz is gone, did you clear out the alcohol in my system?"
"I don't know, I just made you not drunk," I responded.
"How?" she asked, raising an eyebrow.
"I'm a Dragon I don't have to explain things," I resolutely replied.
"Good, you are learning," she responded, nodding her head, her fins flapping slightly as she turned around and began walking closer to the ocean. "Come, let's go for a swim," she spoke, "I want to show you the reef from close up," she said, taking a few steps, her strides becoming longer, and then jumping high in the air, clearing a long distance, and then her body enlarged and she discarded her human features, undertaking her full form and size.
It's always interesting to see something actually bigger than myself, and Aqua was considerably larger than me still, but it seemed like she couldn't undertake her full size. Didn't matter, either way, I chased after her, causing the raft-like island to tremble as I jumped behind her, and then followed her under the waters, tinted emerald by the excessive amount of algae living on and directly around the general area of the raft island.

The cool saltwater rushed past me as I opened my eyes and took in the image of Aqua's large body curling around a powerful current as she swam towards the colorful reef, primarily it was oranges and pinks, but it also had splotches of green and a large horn-like structure, shaped somewhat like a drill, directly near the middle, between the also spiraling structures of the ginormous palm trees that went all the way down to the ocean floor.
"That looks like it could be a hermit crab's shell," I pointed out.
"What is a hermit crab?" Aqua asked.
Oh, hey, we can talk underwater just fine. Were we always able to do that? Am I questioning things I shouldn't?
"It is a spider-like small creature that burrows into a cavity that it can carry on its back, using it as a refuge," I explained.
"Oh, then that's exactly what it is," Aqua said. "Or at least what it used to be. It's dead now. I killed and ate it."
"You killed and ate..." I looked at it, inspecting the spike-like, cone shaped structure, it was like a huge blue drill. "Was it tasty?"
"Not in the least."
Well, that figured. I wonder if there were lobsters around. "What about big similar creatures, with claws made for pinching and cutting, in the shape of scissors."
"Oh. You mean the Pinching Bug," she said. "They are hard shelled creatures and have very little meat, and they rot very quickly, they are hard to eat."
We swam around both the huge trunks and the huge coral reef. It actually was quite pretty. There were also a ton of bioluminescent plants and lichens that made it all extra pretty. I didn't actually need that light to see, at least I don't think I did, but it was a nice light show, especially the brilliant bulbs that were dangling from long, slightly flexible looking coral limbs.
"Don't touch those, the venom they release is very itchy," Aqua said, as I passed close to a glowing orb.
I watched as a boring looking fish bumped into the orb I had just passed by and melted down to the bone in seconds as a brown cloud was released from within the bulb, only to be reabsorbed.
Well, I just saw coral eat, isn't that neat?
Watching insignificant beings, that would normally be so far below my notice that I wouldn't even realize they exist, move and live and do their thing, was surprisingly entertaining. Maybe this is similar to a human watching an ant colony? Or maybe more like an aquarium tank.
"What's that?" I asked, pointing with my claw at a shark-like creature.
"That is a Very Fast Straight Swimmer," she said, "mostly harmless and inoffensive," the Water Dragon explained, though I am fairly certain she means it's harmless to us as Dragons, it looks like it could eat a human whole in one bite, "but will fight bitterly to the death if threatened. Very tasty."
"Alright then," I said, nodding, "I think we have our dinner right there!"
"I see- then allow me," she gestured with one of her long arms and wrestled the water under her control, not that it took her much effort, to drag the beast that was looking for prey towards us both. I could see a lance of pressure form as she opened her mouth and blasted it through the front of the shark-like creature's head, killing it instantly.
After that, we both gave one final lap to the Coral Reef, to appreciate its beauty, and then I flew out of the water, and she swam into the air, cleaning ourselves of the saltwater, the rain apparently stopped at some point, and the stars shone down upon us in the open sky.
It wasn't a whole new sky, as there wasn't enough light pollution in our home for us to not be able to see the stars, but somehow, it hit differently anyway, framed by the immensely tall palm trees with ridiculously humongous leaves.
The next step was to create a fire pit. "Behold!" I called, as I waved my arms, front legs, whatever, theatrically, drawing patterns in the air that came out looking more like wobbly fart clouds than the yin yang symbols I had tried to go for, so I dismissed them and just put my claw on the white sand and then created the perfect place to put a bunch of wood, turning the sand into sandstone.
"No comment," Aqua said, idly.
I hummed, then with a flick of my wrist created a strong force, a blade of sharpened air that coursed through the air and sliced a nearby tree, one that was more of a normal size, and then caught it, using my claws to sharpen both ends, making sure it was clean enough to be of use.
Next step was to stick it into the open mouth of the fish we had, uh, fished I think is not the correct term for what we did, captured maybe, anyway, point is, I shoved the wooden spear-like tree into the huge fish and then stacked it in front of the fire pit.
There was no dry wood around us, nowhere on the raft-island, but I could make do by just drying it out myself, imposing my will upon the world and telling the water contained within the logs I cut to leave and go elsewhere, or so help me myself I would find a way to break the laws of physics and destroy the matter it was composed of.
And with that, I could start the fire, and cook fish we caught ourselves at the beach beside the ocean, underneath the stars.
The date was going wonderfully, we took a walk around the beach, we swam together and got to see a beautiful natural wonder, and-
I was thrown to the ground.
The large form of Aqua towered over me.
"While we wait for the food to cook," she said, looking down at me, "I shall feast."
I couldn't help the nervous giggle that came out of me. "Am I in danger?" I asked, looking up at her.
"Perhaps," she said, "let us join and become one... again."
She was already opening up and letting her power, her energy, spill into me, combining it with mine, and already, I felt like I would definitely need to step up and bring my A game, because she sure had brought hers, as I felt so incredibly overwhelmed by the sheer size of her energy and the weight of her body upon mine.
