B5 | Chapter 50

  Alexia

I take a moment for a deep breath before opening the boss’ chest. Making an item and its description appear above the thing with a rather sinister aura surrounding them both.

  The Reaper’s Scythe

Description: A scythe used by the Quantum Reaper in her True Form. All attacks dealt by the scythe directly target the soul, and all attacks targeting the soul aimed at the reaper holding it are absorbed into the scythe to be released later as an attack.

  Stats Bonus: +1000 VIT, +1000 DEX, +1000 STR, +1000 MAG, 1000 MEN

Requirements: Can only be used by those with the class ‘Quantum Devouring Reaper’.

Item Tier: Transcendent (Item Tier increased by one due to the Legendary Feat, The First Clear)

I can’t help but grin when the scythe appears above the chest. Because the thing looks identical to the scythe that appears when I use my True Form.

It makes me wonder if this is that exact scythe, and that getting it as an item lets me use it even when I’m not in my True Form.

Either way, having a weapon that directly attacks the soul will be very useful. Not to mention those enormous stat increases.

Just imagining how much it’ll increase my soul capacity is making me grin.

To my surprise, though, when I reach out to grab the scythe, I find yet another Legendary Feat appearing in my vision. And just like the last few, this one is about getting a transcendent.

  Huh. That’s an interesting perk.

Normally there’s a restriction on the number of same-type items someone can equip at one time. But I guess that doesn’t apply to me anymore.

I don’t usually use items much, but I do like using passive items. Having ones that grant stat boosts that I don’t have to actively think about using on my person.

They’re useful after all, and I don’t have to make a plan around them.

Now I can stack on quite a few more items.

  Especially rings and bracelets.

With that in mind, I pull out several rings and begin putting them on. Only to find myself surprised when they disappear after being put on my person.

  Huh. That’s interesting.

I look at my status before feeling the corner of my lips lifting upwards a little. Because I’m getting the stat boost despite not feeling or seeing the item on me.

It also makes it so I don’t look or feel weird for having ten rings on at once.

So without hesitating, I put on more rings.

Unfortunately, it seems I can still only put on one ring per finger. Otherwise I’d be stacking rings over and over again on each finger.

But being able to wear ten rings instead of the normal amount is good enough.

I try to swing the scythe a few times before grinning as I realize it really is just the scythe I use in my True Form. Which is interesting to think about. The fact that my True Form scythe was actually a transcendent Tier item.

Honestly, the whole idea of transcendent Class, Tier, and rarity are interesting in and of themselves.

I never knew they existed after all.

Either no one ever found out about them in the past before the Reset, or whoever found out hid it somehow despite the Legendary Feats.

I can see both options as highly possible. Seeing as I’ve hidden a Legendary Feat before.

The very Legendary Feat that started it all. The Reaping.

The one that turned me into a Quantum Reaper in the first place.

“It’s the latter,” Zal suddenly says, reminding me again that he exists. “Rude.”

I glance at him as I continue equipping different passive items to increase my stats while asking, “In that case, who was it that found out about transcendents? And which one did they find out about? Items, Class, or Species?”

Zal narrows his eyes for a moment before his expression returns to normal again and he answers, “It was your father, Lucas Nightshade. He got a Legendary Feat that granted him a Class upgrade token just like you, and he used that token to upgrade his class to transcendent after he reached Ascendant Tier. Then he used another Legendary Feat to cover up the announcement.”

  Huh.

  That’s kind of surprising.

  Wait a second…

“Before you ask, yes, his class is still transcendent Tier rarity,” Zal answers me before I can even ask.

  Huh. That’s interesting.

I wonder… was that before or after I was born?

“Before,” Zal says without hesitation. Then he leaves without another word.

I blink at his sudden exit before shrugging and focusing on the exit that appeared in front of me after slaying the boss.

Let’s see… what would be the best way to slaughter all those pests who were trying to kill me earlier? Should I just gather them together and kill them all at once?

Or should I give them a taste of their own medicine and hunt them down one by one without even hiding it?

I think the latter might be the better option. Just for my own petty revenge.

Then I can focus on clearing the rest of the Trials as a Quantum Being.

It should be easier now that I’ve gotten so much stronger.

  A lot easier, actually.

With my decision made, I go ahead and leave the dungeon. Then I send a message to Astrid to get a heads-up about where the targets are.

Only to find that they’ve all returned to their separate nations.

I tap my finger on my scythe a few times while pursing my lips. But after a few seconds of this, I nod my head and begin to teleport across the universe.

  Right.

Time to get this hunt underway.
