Somewhere in the Quantum Realm
The Quantum Architect finds himself feeling more than a little stumped as he watches Lexi face off against the Ascendant Tier dungeon boss. Against its true form, not its outer shell.
Because there shouldn’t be any function in the System to favor any one species. So he’s not sure why there are so many piranhas.
And he’s pretty sure he’d remember if he ever added some bias towards piranhas while designing the System.
“Just why are there so many of them…” the Architect mutters to himself.
“That would be your father’s doing,” the Quantum Archon declares, appearing out of nowhere alongside the Quantum Scribe and the Quantum Cleaner.
The Architect turns to the newcomers with a frown before asking, “What does he have to do with the System?”
“I’m surprised it’s taken you so long to notice,” the Quantum Cleaner says with a grin as he looks at the screen showing Lexi facing the piranha. “The System’s personal tastes were strongly influenced by the Quantum Ruler’s power in the universe. Since he’s the most closely related being to the universe itself.”
“And how would you know that?” the Architect asks with a frown.
“The Archon told me on the way here,” the Cleaner says, still grinning.
Zal stares at him for several seconds before deciding to ignore the idiot’s existence as he turns to look at the screen again. Briefly wondering just what it means that the System is strongly influenced by the Quantum Ruler.
And since when did my father like piranhas so much?
He narrows his eyes slightly at the piranha. One that isn’t even a quarter of a meter in length.

The boss, despite being an Ascendant Tier creature, is one of the smallest monsters Alexia has ever fought. But Zal isn’t worried about her fighting the Ascendant.
Because the creature is clearly designed in a specific way.
It has a powerful outer shell with its true body being far weaker. Along with numerous powerful creatures acting as protectors for its true body.
So now that she’s found the true body, the battle to slay it won’t be anywhere near as difficult. Or require as much power.
There will still be a minor problem with the monsters that are being created just by the boss’ very presence, but it will all end as soon as she defeats the boss itself.
Zal turns his attention away from the screen as he focuses on his bond with his father. Opening a telepathic connection to him and stating, “Father, what is your favorite creature?”
A few seconds pass in silence before his father responds without any hesitation, “Piranhas.”
That makes Zal blink in surprise and confusion.
He really does like piranhas… but why?
“Then you are the reason the System is favoring piranha monsters,” Zal states without hiding the purpose of his question.
His father doesn’t waste a single second as he answers, “Piranhas are masterpieces.”
So he does know about his influence…
Zal stares blankly ahead for a few seconds before shaking his head and looking at the screen again. Feeling more than a little disappointed with the System he designed.
A balanced system shouldn’t favor any one creature this much. It breaks the immersion and makes the dungeons feel less unique.
So without any hesitation, Zal resumes his previous attempts to regain some control over his own creation. If for no other reason than to fix this balance issue.
It has nothing to do with him wanting to spite his father and his clear love of piranhas.
Nothing at all.
But no matter what he does, he feels the universe itself resisting his attempts to regain control of the System. Leading to his attempts failing miserably.
The Quantum Architect scowls at the various screens in front of him, only to glance at the other Quantum Beings – of which number even more in the area as the Vanguard also joined the group – still being here.
“Why are you all here?” Zal asks with his scowl turning into a frown.
“For entertainment,” the Cleaner says, still grinning like a madman.
Zal feels more than a little irritated at his words before looking at the other Quantum Beings. And after seeing them all showing their own curiosity about Lexi’s battle, he eventually sighs and turns his focus onto the screen again.
With his face growing serious at the same time.
Please, Lexi. Win this and survive. You just have to.
