A piece most unsuitable for Violinists

  Once

a violinist who had made his mark by winning the Menuhin competition at

age 12, was loaned a Golden-Age Stradivarius by a museum. On the day of

the first concerto with it he walked onto the concert halls floor and

played exceptionally well; When it was done, he was going to a party to

celebrate; Though mid-performance he tripped on a rouge shoelace and

  landed on his violin.

  He

payed hundreds of thousands to get it fixed, though it was no use; The

legendary sound was lost. The museum seeked financial consequences and

his spirits were crushed. He applied for another and sent the lengthy

letter off to its destination, but the guilt was too great, and with his

  grandfather’s revolver he killed himself.

The next day the museum sent him a letter of denial.
