Chapter 1: Echoes of Another Life

Somewhere, between the world and universe...

  23.02 Monday, 31 January 20xx

“I’ve been having strange dreams lately.” And echoes of my voice could be heard

“A dream where the world is submerged under water”

“A dream where the world had a lunar eclipse, and the moon visibly cried a river of blood that fell onto the earth.”

“A dream where something as insanely big as the cosmos itself is tethered with a fragile rope”

As I keep talking to myself while heading toward the rooftop

When I open the door of the rooftop, a strong breeze of chill air sends a shiver down my spine

The wind was even strong enough to ruin my hair

When I step toward it, the world below is insanely bright, with its street lights and tall buildings that were still glowing even in the middle of the night

The world is filled with light, yet I somehow it felt so distant

With no roof covering my head, a pale light of moonlight showered my entire body

“I’ve had enough” with this life

Life as a corporate slave, where they keep throwing their own work to me and make me stay overnight again and again

A love life that’s nothing but failures for me

  And… a family that’s been abandoning me

“It seems I’ve gone insane already,” smiling a bit while staring at the moon, as I walk closer to the edge of the rooftop while holding the metal mesh fence

It's cold… Was it perhaps because of nighttime or because I’m nervous?

climbed the metal fence with a slightly trembling hand and awkward movement of a nonathletic body

When I reached the top of it, and slowly sat down in its little space to sit

Strangely, it's pretty steady… Either it is steady, or I’ve just decided this a long time ago?

“I’ve nothing to regret for, I had enough, and I don’t want to live anymore. Just let me rest already for the sake of God,” while I closed my eyes and let my body free-fall from the 10th floor

Weirdly enough, it seems as if I’ve been falling pretty long already, yet I haven’t opened my eyes

Perhaps I’m slightly afraid a little

It was perhaps just my imagination, but I felt I had fallen for more than 10 minutes, nor even the sounds of the street, then when I opened my eyes…

My face was only a few millimeters from hitting the road…

  Let me introduce myself

  My name is Kaleth

The citizen of the capital city, Arnentia Kingdom, is 20 years old and unemployed

Given that I just graduated from the Arnentiasis academy, I probably should find a job right away, right? That's just how it should be, yet here I am lying in the meadow looking at the bright blue skies

But recently I had strange dreams…

A dream where the world turned black, and the moon was crying a river of blood, and such

Honestly, I don’t know. Should I be afraid? Or what?

There’s an archive I read a long time ago in the Arnentiasis library, where often, when humans are possibly stressed too much, their mana becomes Uncontrollable and sends a weird signal into their brain when they're sleeping

Perhaps it is the real reason? Since I’ve just graduated and stressed myself out trying to find a job?

But… is it really, though? Humans sure had a vast capability to imagine things

“It’s just straight-up weird,” While shaking my head

I should’ve found a job a month ago, but somehow each day I had another strange dream. Someone might call me insane, but I’m pretty sure this isn’t a normal dream

I might have wasted my time analyzing these dreams instead of finding a job, but whatever

Then I sat down and leaned back into the tree

“Arnentia Kingdom” is a kingdom that could traced its roots to the second moonless era

The fact that this kingdom has existed since ancient times is already self-explanatory, as is how the nobles manage it

An era where the moon hasn’t been born yet

Everyone perhaps has once dreamed something weird, but is it just a dream? or something more?

I wonder, is something going to happen? Given all of those strange dreams?

Well, if something happen I would be shocked, but if nothing happens after all of that...

As I closed my eyes, I could still vividly remember the dreams of a golden building and a staircase that seemed to stretch infinitely into the sky, while the interior of the building was distorted as if there was no such thing as above, below, left, or right

A dream where a horn grew from my retinas, a worm squirmed inside my ear, and wings were growing from my feet

  Etc…

A growling stomach sound could be heard, “It seems I've been lying down for too long.”

“I should’ve eaten some food first.” Slowly, I stand up

Standing up just made me realize it again and again, for how big this city was, the capital city was built based on a pentagon shape

Heading toward the market area with a horse carriage, which is the bottom border of this city it takes around 40 minutes

The flat border of this kingdom is a sea

When I take a step outside the carriage while paying them up, I could hear the sea breeze and the bustling voices of merchants, suppliers, and people…

For a moment, in a beat of the heart, I could saw myself falling before hitting the road…grounds…? but then it disappears in an instant

As if my eyes are playing a prank on me, it feels so real that I could feel a cold sweat making its trail on my back…
