Aldrich Isengrund
TITLES:
Magos - "The quality of the mind impulse unit (MIU) you are using to interact with me is only available to higher members of the Adeptus Mechanicus. Your 'personal' machine spirit is even rarer. Whatever your origins, you could only be a high-ranking member of the mechanicus, no matter the improbably small chance of it being true, given your external appearance and where you came from, so magos is what Aruna shall log you as." (c0015)
Magos Explorator, Lord Captain of the Distant Sun, assigned by Aruna. (c0019)
Magos Explorator, Navigator (by ritual), Lord Captain of the Distant Sun (c0096)
Magos Aetheric - Aldrich specialises in arcanotech and mundane cybernetics (c0177)
Magos Errant - Something of a jack of all trades, a magos errant studies several scientific and engineering disciplines, including chemistry, genetics, metallurgy, and more. (c0177)
Master of the Astronomicon - Title given to Aldrich by House Ortellius. (c0178, c0228)
Magos Biologis - According to Quaani, Aldrich is considered such due to his exceptional healing abilities and advanced ritual healing Navigator capabilities. (c0179)

HISTORY (Spoiler Alert if you've not read the related chapters yet):
- Warp Tap, Basic, Level 0 (c0003)
- Kills a Chaos Space Marine (c0011)
- Designated as Magos Explorator by Aruna (c0015)
- "Codes accepted... Captaincy confirmed... Magos Explorator Aldrich Isengrund has control." - Aruna (c0019)
- Killed by the Eldar, but E-SIM revives him. (c0024)
- Aldrich discovered the cargo container STC library. (c0025)
- E-SIM gave Aldrich an entirely new skeleton, along with new, vacuum-resistant skin, artificial connective tissues, and electromechanical wires added to my muscles. These physical enhancements were followed by all the mind-enhancing modules I could cram in my skull without resorting to the polymer tissue replacement. (c0027)
- Warp Tap 1 (c0027)
- "Data recovery underway. The Navigator gene was unlocked. Tier four upgrades available." - E-SIM (c0027)
- "You have control, Aruna. Please rescue us." - First instance of Aldrich empowering a ship's machine spirit. (c0030)
- Aldrich commits to warding. "I am going to ward everything I own from cocks to cogitators." (c0030)
- Aldrich begins training people from Marwolv to create the first Stellar Fleet personnel. (c0042)
- Aldrich adds Hyperweave Musculature, Armored Organs, Reinforced Vascular Network, and an Advanced E-WAR suite to his E-SIM upgrades. (c0054)
- Aldrich "buys" the ultimate hacking tool, an adamantium crowbar produced by E-SIM. It is a very versatile electronics hacking tool. (c0057)

- Ork Warboss Spikesnik, leader of three Ork Roks attacking Marwolv, the space dock, and Distant Sun, was defeated in one-on-one combat by Aldrich. This earned Aldrich a special crown counter with E-SIM. (c0072)
- E-SIM purchases after battling the orcs: Navigator Conversion, Rejuvenat Gland, and Regenerative Hormones. (c0074)
- Between the two ork roks (in orbit), we have more than enough material to complete Iron Crane and four more moth class vessels, which will take us up to ten small resource vessels, five fuel processors, and five material synthesizers. They'll be finished around the time the Iron Crane launches. (c0081)
- Navigator Conversion Ritual Completed. Aldrich is now 2.5 m tall. His fingers are longer and thinner, with an additional joint. His toes and proportions remain unchanged. There is a small lump in the center of Aldrich's forehead, but there is no break in the skin, nor can he detect new muscles he can control. The eye still needs to grow. (c0096)
- Aldrich believes in doing something once, doing it right, and preparing in advance for all contingencies. Do not scrimp and save on costs to save one budget, and wreck all the following budgets with debilitating maintenance costs. I do not mind if projects take time to do right. That's no excuse to dally or chase that final one percent of performance for double the price. Be smart about it. (c0098)
- Third Eye eye patch symbol: Golden Cog Mechanicus (c0101)
- 1st Time Travel Event (Approximately 809.M41, +/-20 years after traveling back in time an estimated 259 years.)
- (At this time) Aldrich believes he is comparable to a Space Marine Librarian. Powerful on a small scale and able to tip the scales to victory in a planetary war or small fleet battle. In this galaxy, though, calling him a small potato is generous. (c0116)
- Aldrich gains a Warrant of Trade, making him a Rogue Trader, by altering David Modren's certificate after his death. (c0161)
- Aldrich captures Ardent Bane, an Ambition-Class Cruiser. (c0163)
- Aldrich promotes Raphael Horthstien to full Inquisitor rank. (c0166)
- Aldrich purchases E-SIM options Life Support, Warp Tap Ⅰ, Hyper Intelligence, and Environmental Suit, leaving me with enough souls for a dozen minor miracles. First, this completes the prerequisites I need for Multiplicity and Warp Tap Ⅱ. Second, it also improves my chances of resolving the Polymer Tissue Replacement issue and places the most significant upgrades within my grasp. (c0168)
- The Emperor upgraded the Warrant of Trade to a Greater Warrant of Trade, now good throughout the whole Imperium. Signed by all twelve High Lords of Terra and the Emperor. To almost everyone in the Imperium, I am politically untouchable, with a rather massive caveat. The new obligations connected to this Warrant are a disaster. To maintain the Warrant, I am obligated to outfit all Imperial forces in the Koronus Expanse, and I do not have a Forge World yet. Actually, leaving the Koronus Expanse and utilizing my Warrant when I have such a substantial burden is going to be incredibly difficult, as the only people who could legally represent me are Brigid and my children. The Warrant also contains the location of a lost Ark Mechanicus to be gifted to me as a flagship and help me meet my manufacturing obligations. It's currently in Tau territory. (c0170) --- The main issue, though, is that it's not just me who's been scammed, but the Fabricator General of Mars, Oud Oudia Raskain, as well. The Treaty of Mars means that the Adeptus Mechanicus is responsible for any technology, manufacturing, and construction within the Imperium of Man. In return, all technological data belongs to them and, in practice, they can do whatever they like to maintain their monopoly so long as they keep feeding the Imperial war effort. The key point here is that, due to the treaty, the Adeptus Mechanicus is its own distinct polity and only answers to itself. They do not actually answer to the Emperor. The holder of a Warrant gets their authority from the Emperor, not the Adeptus Mechanicus. Yet here I am, posing as a member of the Adeptus Mechanicus, to the point where no one could say otherwise, and I am responsible for the production of Imperial war material, like a member of the Adeptus Mechanicus should. Still, I must answer to the Emperor, not to Mars. This Warrant implicates the High Lords of Terra, including the Fabricator of Mars, in breaking the Treaty of Mars. It also provides the Emperor with a means to demand war materials without needing to go through the Adeptus Mechanicus. Technically, because I am not a real member of the Adeptus Mechanicus, it doesn't break the treaty, but only the Emperor knows that. (c0170)
- Master of the Astronomicon - Title given to Aldrich by House Ortellius. "I'm not who you think I am, Lady Fyona," Aldrich says. "I commend you on your talent for recognising me. It is by the Emperor's grace and power that a part of me fuels the Astronomicon. I am no avatar of His, and He still burns upon the Golden Throne, keeping the Enemies of Man at bay. At best, I have his attention when He has a task for me, much like your own duties as you guide Petitor Veritas and His most Holy Inquisition from one trouble to another. We are all equal in the eyes of the Emperor." I slowly approach Fyona and help the stubborn woman to her feet, healing her with my biomancy as I do so, "There is no need for us to kneel before each other." --- The souls being used are from Aldrich's Warp Tap that the Emperor has claimed. (c0178, c0228)
- Soul Bonds: All SF psyker types have legal rights due to their bonds to Aldrich (c0203).
- Aldrich reveals he is almost 2.6 million years old subjectively. --- "Inquisitor, my acceleration lets me live 360 years for every day that passes. It took me over twenty years of standard time to complete my research on my body, aided by an ancient database and my brain connected to an incredibly powerful cogitator. That's almost 2.6 million years. Those twenty years alone make me subjectively older than my own species by more than eight times." (c0207)
- The Emperor claims the Liber Heresius. Aldrich's Warp Tap is destroyed. (c0229)
- Aldrich believes that, to limit the Chaos Gods' actions on a mass scale and, over time, one should, in theory, be able to neuter them. Technology cannot solve this equation in isolation. One would also have to provide alternative beings to worship and create conditions where people have little incentive to stray. Fear, faith, and ignorance are just as viable as education, community, and purpose. Aldrich argues that fear, faith, and ignorance are far cheaper and easier than education, community, and purpose, but also offer a lower quality of life and reduce the capabilities of civilization as a whole. Less technology, lower quality military, reduced commerce and industry, and so on. Over time, that can be fatal for a galaxy-wide civilization. (sneak peek from c0275)
