NOTICE - Hiatus Ending || Author Update

Hi! My name is Saix, the author of Death Card, and with how my life has been going recently, I felt the need to address my readers and audience and be honest. To start with, around a month and a half ago, I started dealing with a lot of dry heaving/nausea/vomiting/stomach pain, and my mom didn't know what to do. She was worried, and ended up having me change my psyche meds for my depression and bipolar disorder to try and see if it was the meds causing it. Because of that, it took me a while to adjust to the new meds which were too low of a dose at first, and I ended up having a few manic episodes. On top of that, the stomach pain and vomiting did not stop. Luckily, I have finally gotten the medicine upped, so now I am just fine mentally and am doing well in that regard! However, my body is a different matter.

I was in a lot of pain, and wasn't able to eat. I was constantly nauseas, I felt like I was dying, which I'm afraid is not an exaggeration. Eventually, my mom had to take me to the emergency room, and they decided to schedule a hydascan and an ultrasound for me, thinking it was my gallbladder going bad. However, before the results came in, I was doubled over in so much pain I needed to go to the emergency room yet again, before they finally agreed it was my gallbladder and scheduled a day for it to be removed. However, that date wasn't going to be until over three weeks later, and I ended up not being able to hold out. My mom took me back to the emergency room for a third time, and finally, I was hospitalized. They put me on TPN so that I could get nutrition, and I was on constant nausea and pain meds before the emergency surgery— I still am on those meds. I was hospitalized for eight days total, and haven't been out long— I was discharged on January 14th after I finally managed to not throw up for over twenty-four hours.

Luckily, ever since my gallbladder was removed, I am feeling much, much better! I am so happy to be feeling so much better now, as being in that much pain was horrible, and I wasn't able to write during it even a little, which was horrible for me. Writing is the very core of my identity and is one of my biggest coping mechanisms, and I don't think I've ever gone so long without writing since middle school... but that is why I have not been writing. I'm afraid to say I strained my backlog, as well, so there won't be any constant updates of new chapters out for a little while. I know I used to publish three chapters a week and was pretty consistent with that, but that kind of work isn't possible for me right now. And that's okay— I'll get back to that eventually. I need more time to rest and recover, which after everything, I feel is greatly deserved lol.

However, on to the good news! I am writing again! The moment I was feeling better I decided to sit down and write a chapter, and I wrote another one today! I am so, so happy and relieved, as for a time it felt like I would never be well enough to write again. I know this month of a hiatus hasn't been fun for anyone, and I'm very sorry for not updating for so long, but I am glad to officially state that this hiatus is over!! I plan for my next chapter to be released on January 23rd, so I hope you'll be excited for me! I'm genuinely so glad to be writing again, and I'm glad to be publishing again for all my readers! Thank you all so so much for reading and for sticking out this hiatus and waiting for me to come back, it means so much to me, and I hope you all continue to enjoy!

TL;DR: I was hospitalized for 8 days and needed emergency surgery to remove my gallbladder. However, the hiatus is over now, and my next chapter will be published on January 23rd.
