Everyone was anxiously waiting on the front of the floating forest looking to the horizon for the land they had been searching for. The sun was shining down on the water and the temperature was perfect with the breeze from Kumo. They were all smiling and ready to be done with the ocean for at least a few days.
These last couple of weeks had been hard on them all and this would be a nice reprieve. If only they could find it. Drakenn’s skill gave him the general direction and distance but hadn’t shown him what to look for. They had been “close” for an hour now. People were starting to lose hope that it was actual land and there was talk that his skill picked up a small rock formation or something inconsequential. It was in their second hour when Gene made a gasping sound.
“I see it! We have arrived and it seems we stumbled on an opportunity.” Gene said with a mysterious tone.
No one else could see it yet. Synexus was convinced Gene could sense it but not actually see it unless the owl’s perception was off the charts.
Then Drackenn yelled out, “Gene is right. I have no idea what that is though. It feels strange.”
Synexus now focused as hard as he could in the distance until a notification popped up.
Long Lost Isle
He didn’t even know the skill from his achievement worked on locations. The notification shocked him. How did the system know what to call locations created by people? This would be something he would need to think about later. For now, the excitement overtook him. He would finally get to set foot somewhere new!
“It’s called Long Lost Isle.”
Drackenn, Minily, and Vorin turned to look at him in shock. Drackenn was the first to speak out of the three.
“How do you know that? That place is a myth. A tale to tell young pirates to raise their excitement for adventuring.”
“Yeah, Synexus, I’m going to agree with the king captain on this one.” Minily said with a confused look on her face.
“My skill tells me that is the name of the island we are coming up on. I can’t even see it yet with my perception.”
“His skill is correct. This is Long Lost Isle. All myths had to be born from something. It seems your stories are starting to become realities.” Gene spoke calmly and with wisdom behind his words that none of them could begin to comprehend.
By this time all the class expected were tired of being out of the loop. If Synexus couldn’t see it, then they definitely couldn’t. Zuls was squinting into the distance. Prith tried once and then sat down to meditate while mumbling that we will see it when we see it. Kumo didn’t seem to care at all. She was just ready to get off the floating forest and have an adventure.
Minily saw it five minutes later. Shell caught her first glimpse around the twelve-minute mark followed by Vorin shortly after. Prith and Zuls saw it at the same time. They got excited and were gazing at it like a work of art. This got Synexus’ excitement up to finally see which happened around the thirty-minute mark.
He saw why they were staring at it like they were. The whole island sparkled like a gemstone in the sunlight. Even the sand looked like the shimmering sea. Every grain seemed to be a diamond. The trees didn’t seem to be crystallized, but every now and then they would sparkle. Synexus couldn’t imagine an island like this ever being lost. It was big with a huge, thick forest blocking their sight. If you looked over the forest and further into the distance you saw a multicolored mountain that seemed to be made of crystals. You couldn’t see beyond that, so he wasn’t sure if the island continued or if the other side of the mountain was more ocean. On the front side was a beautiful waterfall that cascaded down the crystal face and looked to get swallowed by the thick forest.

When the class expected could see it, the mood of the floating forest changed completely. Most were hoping for a port city, so they could contact their family, but most couldn’t stop themselves from gawking at the pure beauty before them. There was silence as everyone stared at the island getting larger until Gene spoke once more.
“I advise caution. I know most of you can’t feel it, but his is an island dense with magic. Someone or something on that island is pulling in an immense amount of atmospheric magic. I suggest we find it once we make sure it’s safe.”
“If it could potentially be dangerous, should we leave the class expected on the floating forest while some class chosen go to investigate?” Vorin asked with concern for his crew.
“I don’t believe that is necessary. I can’t be certain, but as of now there are no monsters on that island. If we stay on this island too long, however, the intensity of the atmospheric magic could have unforeseen consequences.”
They all nodded and started to gather their belongings. This raft had been a good home for five days. It didn’t seem like this island was civilized, but Synexus had a plan for how he could possibly build or more accurately grow a new ship. He just needed a few weeks to figure out the technical aspects of how it would work. This island seemed like it would give him that.
The floating forest slowing creeped up to the diamond shore of the silent island. Minily tied it off to a big tree near the shore with a rope. Carefully, they all stepped off the raft and onto the first bit of land they had touched in nearly a month. The diamond sand crunched underneath their boots. Most of them walked up to the grass to lay down for a moment, but Synexus bent down and got to work. The top of the sand was made up of bigger pieces of diamond, but below it was sand that looked like ground up diamonds.

Diamond Sand: 100%
He laughed at the simple name of the sand underlayer, but it did sparkle all the same. With that he walked up to the grass the others were laying on and touched it.

Nature Aether: 8%
His initial reaction was one of surprise at the aether he was finding. This must be caused by the intensity of the atmospheric mana. He would have to touch a lot of blades of grass to get them to 100% in his database, however. Next, he placed his hand against one of the trees.

Material Database Has Leveled Up!
The level that quickly was unexpected, but he did just log a ton of materials. This was going to be a fun island for him. Everything was new and he could potentially gain 100% understanding of a few of the aethers he had discovered. First, the group needed to find a safe place to set up camp.
It was going to be a tough hike for the class expected, so Kumo and Prith went on ahead as a scouting party. They were to make sure there were no monsters and hopefully find a place for them to set up camp. Synexus was worried, however, whatever mysteries this island had could prove to be lethal.
