First impression
Xu Liu'er's first impression of Lu Zhouyue was in an English class, when they were already two months into their first year of high school. The original English teacher had been so boring and old-fashioned that he had been driven off the stage by those spoiled students. She was in the private high school with the highest college entrance rate in the city, so all the students were very arrogant.
She was seventeen years old that year.
Her family condition was not suitable for such a noble high school, but during the summer vacation after the college entrance examination, she accompanied her mother to the hospital and unexpectedly met Xu Dingbian. In the previous 17 years, Lian had no news except that she reported a safe birth to Xu Dingbian through someone after she was born.
Xu Dingbian searched the world for news of his mother and daughter, but to no avail. By then, he had married Fang Hui and become a successful and spirited section chief. It was impossible for Lian Su to be found at this time, so in desperation, he asked someone to tell Lian Su that he had named their daughter Xu Liuwan.
This world is big, yet small. In fact, Lian Su had been living in this beautiful coastal city all along, but they had never met until now. After meeting at the hospital, Xu Ding tried his best to make up for everything, but Lian Su avoided him and refused any form of help from him, except for letting her transfer schools.
Because she thought her daughter had a great future ahead of her, Xu Liu'er enrolled in this high school.
In that class, she sat in a position close to the wall, still with one hand propping up her head against the wall and the other hand flipping through the pages of her book quietly, because she was a good student, so the other teachers also turned a blind eye to this behavior.
She was reading that kind of tacky romance novel, but she wasn't like Xia Weiliang who would get infatuated with those touching love stories every time. She just fell in love with the faint sadness and slight pain in the words, which made her feel at ease.
Because she was too focused, she didn't notice the bursts of sobbing and shouting from her classmates after the bell rang, she just kept her head down, eyes fixed on the book in her hand, mechanically standing up and sitting down with everyone else.
Just as she was reading with great interest
"Xǔ Liú Yī!"
It seemed someone was calling her name, she furrowed her brow and didn't react.
"Xǔ Liú Yī!"
That voice called out again, unrelenting and merciless. She still didn't react, so Xia Mianliang, who was sitting behind her, suddenly kicked the leg of her chair. She cursed under her breath, displeased, closed her book, and raised her eyes to glare at the noisy man on the podium, slowly standing up.
On the podium stood a strange man, wearing a well-considered ash-gray shirt with slightly rolled-up cuffs and a faintly furrowed brow that gave off an aura of unspoken authority. She thought he didn't look like a teacher at all, but rather like a young master from a noble family, similar to their school's charming director, Zhuo Tingfeng.
She admitted that he was handsome and it reminded her of the male lead in the novel she just read, but she still didn't have a good impression of him because he disturbed her tranquility.
The man glared at her with a look of impatience on his face, narrowing his eyes dangerously.
"What is the usage of the general future tense?"
I still remember you that day, your bright smile suddenly occupied my heart and lit up my entire life. This lifetime, I don't want to let go of your hand again.
