The task of signing up for the life school was easy, Once I had asked the professor I was sent out to the library for a book. Not just any book but a spell book, not only would it automatically remember any magic I learned but could also long term store cards I wasn't going to be using.
Not long after I was holding six cards, three Wood beetles and three Pixies. I felt the tingle of the charged magic in them I wanted to push my magic into one and toss it out right away. But before I could she caught my attention again, "Here, you will need these as well." Then she passed me an entire stack of cards.
Confused I picked them up, noticing that they didn't have the magic tingle to them. "What's these?"
She smirked. "This is some extra cards. Incase you find some extra creatures that are willing to imprint."
I had no idea how to go about imprinting new cards but that was something I would figure out eventually. She got a slight smile as she gave me my first task. "So, now that you are officially a beginner wizard it is time I send you out one some tasks. Take this to the fairy garden at the end of unicorn way, don't worry about who to give it to they'll find you."
That was how I ended up wandering aimlessly down the street with a box, the road known as unicorn way seemed to go on forever. But overall it seemed to be a residential area I hadn't visited before. But eventually I made it. How did I know? Well the road ended in a small grass park area with a small gate at the end with a whole bunch of flowers growing around it.
Stepping into the garden was a shock, Fairy garden was a great name for this place. Flowers sprouted in almost every location, bushes full of berries with small creatures plucking berries around as well. But then I was swarmed by some flying ones.
Their incessant tugging at me made me realize they were tiny people they could easily fit in my hand. And seemed to all be wearing dresses made of leaves. I tried to keep the box away from the fairies but there was so many and even more arrived the longer I remained there. Soon I was over whelmed, my world became the flutter of wings the smell of flowers and tiny giggles.
But just like it started it ended shortly stumbling I looked around the fairies back to what they were doing before and the box in my hand forcibly opened revealing... a sleeping fairy with a big bloated belly apparently having eaten whatever was in the box. She was... cute. She was definitely defenseless though, so I promptly shut the box. Trapping her in, she already ate whatever was in there so I might as well deliver her then.
After a few minutes of walking around the box shook and I heard the quite cry from the box. "Hey! Let me out of this prison!"
This tale has been unlawfully lifted from Royal Road. If you spot it on Amazon, please report it.
I smirked to myself. "Hey, I'm just here to deliver something. I can't exactly deliver it now so I'll be giving you up since its your fault I can't now."
Hear quiet voice sounded again. "What! But- Please don't turn me in Mr. I'll- I'll offer you a my magic!" Hm? Her magic? I cracked open the box to see her crying face.
"What do you mean your magic? "Well... The snack you were supposed to deliver was for us anyways. But you can't turn me into the queen! I'll be in trouble. You'll be given a Fairy card as payment anyways, all new wizards get them for delivering this. I'll make sure its a strong one! Stronger than the normal one." She was practically begging now and I started to feel bad.
"Alright fine, what do I do then? I just hand you a card?" I stopped as I fully opened the box while producing a blank card. "Next time don't steal things-"
Her tears were completely gone as if there was none in the first place as she jumped out of the box to wrap her arms around the card pinched between my fingers. Suddenly she pushed magic into it and I was stunned, the card gained a gentle warmth before it started to tingle in my hand and she leg go with a smile and a giggle as she vanish by flying away.
Well before I could decide to vanish with the box my attention was grabbed by a giggle, not a tiny giggle from the tiny fairies. I spun around, I didn't see anyone else when I went in so I was surprised. But even more surprised by another fairy, this time one about as tall as my forearm rather than the small ones. "Thanks for the delivery, I know the little ones are always thankful when it arrives. And you even managed to convince them on your own for your reward."
She was too big to use leaves as clothes, at least not a single leaf anyways. "Wait, it was for them anyways?"
She spent a moment gazing at me before she slid closer in the air and I realized she smelled of flowers. I blushed when she ended up flying even closer standing on the box in my hands, leaves really don't cover all that much... "You show good promise, tell you what. I'll give you a chance, goto the training tower in unicorn way, bring me a trinket held by the leader there and I'll reward you myself."
Training tower? "What do you mean by training tower?" I hadn't heard anything about training towers so far.
She crossed her arms in front of her. "Yes, training tower. Invite only I'm afraid. Its where wizards we like can train their skills. There is one in the commons that is open to all wizards so I suggest starting there first before you even think about trying ours out." She then reached into her top and pulled out a metal object.. It fit snuggly in the palm of my hand... and I couldn't help but feel how warm it was when she dropped it into my hands. "Go! And don't make a fool of us Fairies in the tower!" She then jumped over my head and when I turned around to trying to keep track of her she was gone.
Conveniently there was a trash can by the exit of the garden for me to deposit the now empty box.. The thing she handed me was actually a pin in the shape of a unicorn that I could put on my robe so I did just that as I walked away from the garden. It was nice in there really tranquil and all that but it was definitely fairy territory. I saw the tower she spoke of before I left, it was quite tall. If it was for training it was probably a battle on every floor of the building to the top. I certainly would have to work on getting stronger, but first head back to the professor and tell her I am done with her task.
