She got up and started exploring the other way, eventually she stumbled upon two kappas with markings on their chests each with a trident guarding the entrance to a room behind them.
“These kappas are different from the ones at the entrance… They have special markings and different weapons… I think I’m getting closer to the end of the dungeon.”
Aqua stood still and aligned her hand with one of them.
“Water jet.”
A jet of water shot the closest one directly in the chest at an incredible speed, blowing it back slightly. The other kappa looked over.
“Kraa!”
“Ray wasn’t wrong, only taking a couple cracks from that is impressive defence.”
The one who got shot started conjuring a spell while the other ran at her with its trident. It sliced an inch away from her face, just catching a few hairs.
“Water spear.”
The kappa in front took the defensive but was knocked back by the spear.
“It doesn't seem like they struggle with attacking. I’ve got to finish this quickly.”
This time she was going to go on the offensive.
“Water spear!”
She ran with it this time using her speed and pierced the first kappas shell, which made it fall to the floor. She then looked at the other kappa, now standing, it had finished its spell.
“Bubble shield!”
Half of a bubble in the shape of a shield appeared in front of her hand, when a jet of pressurised water blasted the shield backwards and threw her off her feet. The kappa didn’t miss the opportunity and ran at her, trident in hand. While on the floor she shouted-
“-Water bolt!”
She missed her target but hit it in the leg. It tripped, dropping its trident but falling on her.
“Agh!”
“Kraaaaa!”
It definitely had more physical strength than her. It was holding her down. It got a hand free and punched down at her face which she barely dodged. It opened its mouth and a magic circle started forming inside it.
“Huhh!”
Aqua reached for the sheethe on her waist and thrusted the hunting knife into the cracks in the shell, slicing into it. The kappa, while screaming, fell to the side. She stood up and took a couple breaths.

“Those were… definitely not normal Kappas.”
Where the two were guarding, was a door, much larger than a person.
“That couldn’t be more loot, could it?”
She pushed the door open to reveal an open expanse, dimly lit. Walking into the darkness she saw a chest at the end of the room.
“Didn’t I just make this mistake?”
Now in the middle of the room, she quickly glanced her eyes wall to wall but could see nothing.
“There!”
She dodged to the side as a giant tentacle slammed the floor next to her.
“I knew it.”
On the ceiling above the entrance was a giant octopus stuck to it.
“If that’s not a dungeon boss, I don’t know what is.”
She knew to go on the offensive.
“Water bolt!”
The giant octopus threw its tentacle in front of its face. The water bolt tore through the tentacle.
“Yes!”
From the severed tentacle came small strands of flesh that grew out slowly forming into the arm.
“It can regenerate!?”
Another tentacle came at her.
“Water bolt!”
This time she hit it mid air before it could touch her.
“Alright, I have to find a weakness.”
She tried to gain distance but the giant octopus jumped to the floor and started crawling at her. At this point both the tentacles had regrown.
“I’ll just have to destroy it fully then… Water spear!”
The giant octopus couldn't fully defend against it, two of its arms were torn off as it hit it in the side of its face.
“That’s two.”
It retaliated with an attack, two tentacles from either side.
“Water bolt!”
“Another tentacle was destroyed, but the other grabbed her by the foot and threw her into the air. She didn’t waste this opportunity.
“Water spear!”
She threw the spear into the giant octopus’ direction, severing two more arms.
“That’s five. Bubble shield!”
Below her she casted the bubble shield. When she landed on it she bounced up and landed with both her feet back on the floor.
“Water spear!”
She threw the spear with all the mana she could, tearing through the last few arms.
“That’s eight!”
She put her hand onto the ground.
“Time to finish this. Kraken!”
Four tentacles made of water sprung from the floor around it, grabbing onto the octopus from all angles, ripping it apart.
“Good luck… heh… regenerating from… heh… that…”
She was out of breath, fully exerting herself. The dungeon around her started to shake.
“First boss… dealt with.”
